Finally online - sharing our findings that #Lyme disease bacteria can live in female reproductive organs for over a year and increase risk for gynecological disease!!! We found this increased risk in mice and humans! 😱 (thread below)

I've experienced really positive effects on my energy levels and dysautonomia. Unfortunately, the impact on my sleep quality has been disastrous, which is a major issue for me.

We know that amantadine is primarily eliminated by the kidneys, so it may be useful to assess and monitor renal function to better understand its effectiveness and individual treatment response.

📝 #GUTBlog | Could screening help pave the way for Crohn’s disease prevention?
Turner et al explore how faecal calprotectin can help define preclinical stages of Crohn’s disease in asymptomatic first-degree relatives, proposing a screening framework to support future prevention trials.

Is your doctor still telling you your diet isn’t important when you have IBD??
Congrats to @SunHoLee15 @KenCroitoru @The_GEMProject for another important step on the journey to preventing IBD.

2/ The puzzle: CD19-CAR T cells produce sustained drug-free remission in severe autoimmune disease. Antibodies against the same B cell lineage rarely do.
Both deplete B cells. So what does CAR T remove that antibodies leave behind?
Michal Tal, PhD retweeted
CD19-CAR T cells clear the EBV-infected B cells that carry autoreactive antibodies. Rituximab doesn’t. That may be why only one of them produces lasting remission.

Stanford researchers studied 27 autoimmune patients and found CD19 CAR T-cell therapy cleared EBV-infected, autoreactive B cells that resisted rituximab.
8 of 12 CAR T-cell patients achieved sustained drug-free remission.

I am so incredibly grateful for the NIH funding for our endometriosis NAMs Technology Development Center, where we are working with industry partners to move new EFFECTIVE endometriosis drugs into the clinic. It is my dream of decades, to help women and girls avoid the horrible pain and other gross symptoms I endured, by bringing new targeted therapies into the clinic.
Under @POTUS and @FLOTUS' leadership, women's health is finally getting the attention it deserves. 🇺🇸
From menopause care and lower fertility drug costs to maternal health and research, HHS is advancing women's health at every stage of life.

Headed to RECOVER TLC with a suitcase full of Vagis rings!
2nd rings for @doc4care
@NovaSupport and Isabel to run experiments with rings on both hands, some for @ImmortalSaKe and Dr Yellman, and two are headed to @ImmunoFever.
Isabel is also bringing a capillaroscope that she got from Mikki and we have Lumias and my whole stack of wearables and devices. We're going to have to take over a table at the meeting to show everyone all the gear. 😆
@BrainstemMd
Who will be at RECOVER TLC this week?
Some of our team will be there and we would love to meet people!
Isabel, @doc4care, @tessfalor, @NovaSupport, @ImmortalSaKe, and Dr Brayden Yellman will all be attending.
If you can't attend in person, there is also a streaming option. Register here: web.cvent.com/event/e0be4010…

Sustained low-level #inflammation is a hallmark of the #aging process. The accumulating damage persistently activates the innate immune system - the body’s first line of defense - leading to what is known as inflammaging, functional decline and chronic diseases of old age.
Unlike the adaptive #immunesystem, which switches on and off based on the specific pathogens it recognizes, innate immune sentinels such as macrophages can recognize a diverse array of danger signals. The mechanism of this pattern recognition has remained an enigma, however.
In a new study published Oct. 23 in Cell, researchers at Yale School of Medicine found that the amino acid #taurine is key to the way the innate immune system senses danger signals. Even more, boosting taurine levels may diminish the effects of inflammaging.

Hi everyone, we’ve been working on something 🙏🏼 I’ve written a second letter to Andy Burnham, alongside 360 sports people, to urge him to meet with me and fund research into my much neglected health issue which impacts millions of others.
I can’t believe 360 people signed in just 1 week, so many amazing names and messages still coming in of people wanting to add theirs (so feel free to message to add yours, we’re keeping on the pressure!!!)
The list includes 114 Olympians, with 77 medals between them (and that’s not even including Worlds and Europeans 🤯). Also some huge names from football and many other sports!!
Thank you SO much to everyone that signed, I can’t tell you how much it means to me when I’m truly at rock bottom ❤️❤️❤️
I know everyone wants their issues taken seriously, but this has been neglected like nothing else. WE HAVE 0 APPROVED TREATMENTS!!! Please listen 🙏🏼 @andyburnham @number10gov @UKLabour @DHSCgovuk

A new @ScienceAdvances study proposes the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine as a preventative measure against dementia.
The vaccine reduces Alzheimer’s-associated phospho-tau proteins, reprograms myeloid immune cells and limits neuroinflammation. scim.ag/47Dk9nR

ALT A comparative illustration of neuroinflammation in PS19 FTLD-tauopathy versus BCG-treated PS19 conditions. On the left, PS19 FTLD-tauopathy features reactive astrocytes, activated microglia, and proinflammatory cytokines, leading to neuronal degeneration, tau protein tangles, and cognitive decline as shown by a distressed mouse icon. On the right, BCG-treated PS19 shows resting microglia, healthy neurons, and a stabilized environment with reduced neuroinflammation and improved cognitive function, represented by a healthier mouse icon.
