🇸🇪 Yesterday, Crown Princess Victoria participated in the total-defence exercise ‘RSÖ26-Utrym’. The event tested the evacuation plan for Gotland County & strengthened the ability to protect the population during a heightened state of preparedness. Throughout the day, the Crown Princess joined over 200 people who were moved from a fictitious risk area to locations where civil defense organisations & employees from Region Gotland & the County Administrative Board assisted. A central part of the evacuation exercise was the so-called reception chain — the path from when a person leaves their home, via a collection point, to being received at a reception site. The reception site’s main responsibility is to ensure that people in need of help receive food, support & the necessary care before they are transferred to temporary accommodation. The Crown Princess & representatives also visited a location where the Swedish Transport Administration had practiced building a temporary emergency bridge, a resource that can be used in a future crisis to strengthen the ability to maintain the transport of people and goods. Evacuating parts of a county is a large & complicated operation. It places extremely high demands on organisations involved & is a transformative event for the individuals who are forced to leave their homes & livelihoods. Regional Director Stefan Hollmark has said: « If a decision is made to evacuate, it is never made lightly, but if it does happen, it is our mission to not leave anyone without support. We are there for those who need help, whether it is for transportation, care or welfare. »

🇷🇸 🇨🇦 The Crown Princess Katherine Foundation recently received a major humanitarian donation from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Canada. The donation was secured through the efforts of Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation of Chicago, founded under the high Patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, & will be distributed to children in need throughout Serbia. The donation was made possible thanks to the initiative of Mr. Michael Gruyich, whose strong connection to Serbia & commitment to helping children led him to approach Marineland with the idea of giving its remaining merchandise a meaningful new purpose. The shipment includes hundreds of items, including stuffed animals, children's clothing, backpacks, school supplies, hats, socks, towels, cups & other children's necessities. The donation will be distributed according to the needs of various social welfare institutions. Particular attention will be given to children living in orphanages & residential care, children with disabilities, families experiencing hardship as well as women & children served by shelters. Some of the larger stuffed animals will be reserved for special occasions, allowing children to receive them during Christmas & Easter Celebrations. Crown Princess Katherine expressed her deep appreciation to everyone who made this generous initiative possible: « There is something deeply beautiful in the simple act of giving. When people come together with goodwill & understand the joy that a gift can bring to a child, even an item that might otherwise have been left unused can become something very special. We are deeply grateful to Michael Gruyich, to Marineland, & to the Lifeline Chicago Board members who helped make this shipment possible. These gifts will bring smiles, comfort & happiness to children who deserve to know that people care about them. »
