YOU ARE NOT BIGGER THAN THE SYSTEM, AND YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO THE PROGRAMME! Here is what I think: no matter how much I love, value, respect, or rate you, you cannot be bigger than the systems, habits, and routines I've put in place to keep my life in order. Let me explain. I prioritise my sleep. I won't sacrifice rest just to keep a conversation going. You matter, but so does my wellbeing. On a typical morning, I'm awake by 5:00 or 5:30 AM and out by 6:00 AM. I'm either running, jogging, exercising, taking an hour-long walk or heading to the office. Those hours are not for lengthy chats. I respect your routine too. Now, let's talk about PRODUCTIVE HOURS. Between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, I'm supposedly at work. My day is often fully packed, stacked and planned. There are deadlines, colleagues, clients and responsibilities. Why should I consistently entertain non-urgent conversations that interrupt my thought process, disrupt my workflow or hamper my productivity? I avoid doing this to others too. The same applies when I travel for work. I didn't board a flight halfway across the country and pay for accommodation just to sit idle. I travelled to achieve an objective. If you know I'm on an assignment, please understand my limited availability. Emergencies are different. Beyond work, I prioritise my mental health, fitness, rest, finances and peace of mind. I prioritise ORDER because I understand what happens when CHAOS takes over. And here's the irony. The qualities you admire in someone often come from unseen discipline and sacrifice. Would you rate me the same if I couldn't hold a job, manage money or take care of myself? So why admire the outcome of someone's discipline while demanding that they abandon the process responsible for it? Let's talk about FINANCES. I believe in budgeting, saving and giving. Sometimes I must decline a request for help, even when I want to give. Not because I don't care, but because I need to afford my data, transport to and from work, food, and other necessities throughout the month. I must remain stable enough to earn again and give again. Imagine helping you today, only to lack transport fare tomorrow. How do I then earn the money with which I hope to help you subsequently? Without financial discipline, I might not be able to help at all. SELF-PRESERVATION is not selfishness. I will not routinely lose sleep, arrive late to work, neglect colleagues, superiors, employers or clients, skip meals or abandon financial responsibilities to prove affection. Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not advocating rigidity or emotional unavailability. Relationships require flexibility, emergencies happen, and sometimes we must make adjustments for people we care about. But compromise is different from repeatedly abandoning yourself. I can love you and still need to sleep. Value our friendship and still be unavailable during work. Care about you and still be unable to send money. Enjoy our conversations and still choose my morning run over my phone. These things are not mutually exclusive. So when I say YOU ARE NOT BIGGER THAN THE SYSTEM, I'm referring to the disciplines and routines that keep me healthy, productive, dependable and capable of showing up for others. They can evolve, but shouldn't be casually discarded. I must respect your boundaries too. Delayed replies aren't necessarily disregard. Declined calls aren't automatically disrespect. Saying NO isn't proof of a lack of love. No one is bigger than the system, and no one is immune to the programme. Not even me. Boundaries are not hostility. Love should not require the abandonment of self. These are my thoughts. What do you think? #DeriqBlaq #IntentionalLiving #SelfDiscipline #PersonalDevelopment

😂 I’ve dealt with cement supply quite a lot. At one of the companies I worked for, I was involved in procurement and we bought well over 10 truckloads in my time there. From what I saw, even someone supplying us who wasn’t the main supplier could make around N150–N200 per bag, while still buying from another supplier who was getting from Dangote. So imagine the margin of someone buying directly from the manufacturer at scale. That’s why I don’t like assuming the profit margin is whatever the seller tells you. The position you occupy in the supply chain makes a huge difference.
Na people wey dy sell cement i dy always pity pass. You fit sell one full truckload of cement for N15m make your profit be N85k. Let me not even talk about people who sell provisions and groceries.

Is your data analyst career AI-proof? The data landscape is shifting rapidly, and technical skills alone are no longer enough to stand out in 2026. AI can write SQL and Python code in seconds, but it cannot replicate analytical judgment or business intuition. Here are 5 AI-proof skills you need to focus on to get hired: Domain Knowledge : Knowing the business metrics is more important than knowing the tools. Unique Narrative : Having a personal brand that bridges your past experience with your data goals. Problem Framing : Understanding what to analyze before touching the data. Standout Storytelling: Communicating complex technical insights to non-technical stakeholders. Analytical Judgment: Making smart decisions on how to approach a data problem. If you want to move from autorejections to interviews, stop focusing on technical certifications and start focusing on these human-centric skills. 👇 Which of these skills do you find the most challenging? #DataAnalytics #CareerGrowth #ArtificialIntelligence #DataScience #DataJobs

Annual rent should be treated as a monthly bill even when the landlord collects it once a year. If your rent is ₦1.8 million, the real obligation is ₦150,000 every month. Move it into a separate account monthly. Rent becomes a crisis when a predictable bill is treated like a surprise.

Cheap architecture is very expensive. In a country like Nigeria, cutting design fees at the beginning of a project can feel like a smart way to protect the budget until the building starts showing the signs. The poor detailing can lead to water ingress; the poor material selection can accelerate deterioration; the poor ventilation can increase cooling costs; poor spatial planning can make future alterations expensive, and inadequate coordination between architecture, structure, and services can turn simple repairs into something major. The problem is where our developers are choosing to save, as design fees are often treated as a line-item expense that needs to be minimised, while maintenance, energy consumption, repairs, and premature replacement are treated as unavoidable costs of owning a building, when they are not. A well-resolved building considers how materials will perform in Nigeria's climate, how water will move through the site, how the building will be ventilated, how systems will be maintained, and how the property will age before construction even begins. Good architecture is an insurance against construction disasters.

A drip groove (or drip edge/mould) A small cut or notch on the underside of an overhang, windowsill, or slab edge. It breaks the surface tension of flowing rainwater, forcing the water droplets to fall straight down rather than tracking back toward the wall or fascia bboard. #Architect #Civilengineers #Design

Disclaimer: If you're already doing well financially, just keep scrolling. This isn't for you. But if you're just starting your journey, especially if you've been in a place where you were really broke, like I used to be, then you need to understand these simple steps. Two years ago, I used to have less than ₦700. Then I made my first million naira and my earnings started becoming consistent. One of the best things I did for myself at that point was to go back to stay with my parents. I had no babe, no major responsibilities, and I wasn't trying to impress anyone. I was eating my normal trendy cheese food. I could spend ₦1,000 to ₦1,500 on food and basically be fine for the day. A lot of people, once they start making ₦1M a month, will quickly leave their parents' house, rent an apartment, buy a car, start having ladies, start stepping out more, and start competing with people. I wasn't willing to compete with anyone. I just wanted to compete with my previous self. My previous self was broke. My friends told me I should leave because I had started making money, but I told them I wasn't leaving. I wanted to stay, build and save better. People told me to buy a car, rent a place and do a lot of interesting things, but I said no because I had a plan. And that decision helped me save a lot of money. I knew house rent would take a huge chunk of my earnings if I wanted to live in a nice, conducive environment in Lagos. Food is also expensive, and once you move out, you're not just paying rent. You're paying for electricity, internet, transportation, furnishing, maintenance and a lot of other things. Instead, I wanted to use that period to build capital, invest and diversify my income. Today, I can make close to ₦200K from investments without touching the capital. That's around ₦2M in a year while I still chase other jobs and build other things. The capital is still there, and the money keeps compounding. That is the mindset I'm trying to build. I don't want to depend on one source of income. I'm working with agencies, experimenting, building a startup, and soon I'll be starting a clothing brand, building an app and growing a beautiful community. Living with my parents gives me the comfort to do all of this without constantly worrying about house rent or expensive food. It gives me room to think, reset, experiment and reshape what I'm doing. So when I eventually leave, I don't need to move into a fancy apartment. I'll get a simple place and let it be a stepping stone. I'm currently diversifying my income so I don't have to touch my salary just to pay rent. I still eat my ₦1,000 to ₦1,500 food. I still use a simple ₦130K phone. I still live a very simple lifestyle. Not because I can't spend more, but because I know I've been in poverty and I don't want to go back there. If you're just starting out, you don't need to prove that you've made it because you started making money. Build first. Save. Invest. Diversify. Then upgrade your lifestyle when your money can comfortably carry it. Don't let your lifestyle grow faster than your income. I'm not trying to look rich. I'm trying to build enough wealth that I don't have to struggle again.
Man breaks down emotionally while sharing a heartfelt piece of advice to young men trying to rent an apartment 💔….this is so touching menn
