A Ugandan man identified as Matege from Kasambira Trading Centre in Kamuli District has built a customised chopper using metal materials, naming it “Chopper Fighter Jet 136 Matege UG.” The aircraft unfortunately crashed during its test flight, although Matege survived unharmed. He is now appealing for more support to help him pursue his project.

🇺🇬 VIDEO: Tororo Municipality MP @shyamtanna_ Jay Tanna, who told @Parliament_Ug he exports to Congo, said Congolese buyers "come with piles and piles of US dollars" and stagger their payments, because cash above US$10,000 attracts a handling charge. He urged that bringing South Sudan and the DRC onto the regional payment system be a priority, saying it would "push our exports." Watch here:

The second boy from Alere S. S. is Savior Mogga. At our first visit to the school, he sat somewhere, all through, holding reusable pads their club had made - not ashamed at all what his peers would say. Keep up the caring spirit, Mogga. Again, share until it reaches him in Adjumani.

“Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you a crook.” - Harry S. Truman Harry S. Truman believed public office was a responsibility to the American people, not an opportunity for personal enrichment. Known for his modest lifestyle, he openly criticized politicians who used their positions to build personal fortunes. After leaving the White House, Truman returned to Missouri with relatively limited financial resources, helping inspire Congress to pass the Former Presidents Act of 1958. The law established presidential pensions, providing former presidents with financial security without forcing them to capitalize on their public service. Decades later, Truman’s principles remain relevant, with his words frequently invoked in debates over political corruption, financial transparency, and the ethical responsibilities of elected officials.

Uganda is edging toward a currency crisis. Two weeks ago, President Museveni said he had blocked the Bank of Uganda from using forex reserves to defend the shilling. “Don’t squander our dollars,” he said. Today, Uganda is drawing on those same reserves. In between: an emergency 225bp rate hike to 12%, the largest since 2011, and the first direct dollar sale since 2022. It didn’t work. The shilling lost more than 11% in October, closing near UGX 4,420. Second-worst currency in the world this month, after Iraq’s dinar. The problem is the size of the war chest. About $6–7bn, roughly 2.7 months of import cover. The EAC benchmark is 4.5 months. When a central bank raises rates and sells dollars at the same time, it is telling you the pressure is bigger than expected. Foreign investors are leaving the bond market and the oil bill keeps rising. Kenya should be watching closely. Uganda is one of our largest export market. A weaker shilling there makes every Kenyan product more expensive in Kampala. Same oil shock, same foreign outflows. The difference is how much ammunition you have.

The only war where Kenya and Uganda can have is a x war. Kenyans and Ugandans love one another.
Yesterday, kenya showed off its fighter jets. But here is the question: if kenya and Uganda went to war, who would have the upper hand in the air? I just tried to do some brief research, and here is what I found. Kenya has the old F-5E/F. Uganda has the advanced Su-30MK2.

Aliko Dangote, responding to the report that a Kenyan court has ordered a halt to construction, says this is normal in Africa and they don’t care, adding that this is a small issue. “In Senegal, they stopped our factory. We went to the Supreme Court… anyone who wants to cause trouble, we are ready,” he says.

Mayor Mamdani, you said war criminals who set foot in New York should be arrested. Good news. One is in New York city this week. The president of the Islamic Republic is coming to the United Nations, right here in New York. He heads the regime that massacre innocent protesters. They gunned down unarmed protesters in the streets, hanged our children, and sent its agents to Brooklyn to kidnap and kill a New Yorker. That New Yorker is me. The FBI files and federal indictments are public. Look them up. If you have the courage to talk about arresting those responsible for crimes against humanity, start with the man sleeping five miles from your office. Are you willing to act, Mayor? Or do Iranian lives not count?

PASSING THE BATON: UHURU KENYATTA HANDS OVER JUBILEE LEADERSHIP TO MATIANG’I Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially handed over the chairmanship of the Jubilee Party to Dr. Fred Matiang’i, bringing to a close a prolonged leadership transition. Speaking at Jubilee Party Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenyatta said his continued leadership during the transition was aimed at protecting the party’s interests amid legal and internal challenges, stressing that Jubilee must remain an institution bigger than individual personalities. He urged the new leadership to strengthen the party’s structures, reconnect with members across the country and uphold its founding commitment to national unity and inclusion. “Leaders come and go, but institutions must endure,” Kenyatta said, urging young people to take ownership of their political future and reject divisive politics. In accepting the chairmanship, Matiang’i thanked Kenyatta for his leadership and pledged to work with other opposition leaders to advance the country’s interests. Echoing Kenyatta’s call for political restraint, Matiang’i told Jubilee members: “Hakuna haja ya matusi. We have more work to do.” The transition marks a new phase for Jubilee, with the incoming leadership set to focus on strengthening the party’s structures and preparing for its next political chapter.

One thing about Nigerian business history fascinates me. Many of the men who went on to build some of Nigeria’s biggest financial institutions and business empires were already building BEFORE 40. Jim Ovia. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede. O’tega Emerhor. Herbert Wigwe. Peter Obi. Fola Adeola. Tayo Aderinokun. Tony Elumelu. Atedo Peterside. Orji Uzor Kalu. Atedo Peterside founded IBTC at 33. Fola Adeola and Tayo Aderinokun built the foundation of GTBank while in their 30s. Jim Ovia built Zenith Bank from his 30s. Tony Elumelu was in his early 30s when he entered the banking arena. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede and Herbert Wigwe were in their 30s when they left GTBank and went on to build Access Bank. Orji Uzor Kalu was already building businesses and SLOK long before politics. These weren't people waiting for 50 to start building. They were young, ambitious, operating in imperfect markets, taking risks and creating institutions. There is something to study here. Your 20s and 30s are not merely preparation for your life. They can be the years in which you build it.

There is no economy in history that has scaled from poverty to prosperity by jumping from primary production straight into services. You industrialise. Africa cannot move from pits to ports without passing through factories. From primary production to secondary industrialisation, and only then to a sophisticated tertiary economy. The Dangote Refinery is the idea in physical form: take crude, refine it, produce petrochemicals, create logistics, build supply chains, employ people and export value-added products. That is the Africa we should be building. We must stop being merely the continent that digs things out of the ground and start becoming the continent that transforms what it digs into things the world buys. Aliko Dangote deserves to be celebrated as a titan of African industry. Whether one considers him the greatest African of all time is ultimately a matter of judgment, but his industrial legacy is already extraordinary. Africa needs more Dangotes. We need to move beyond pits to ports.

Today the NSE had one of its worst days in years. The NSE All Share Index (NASI) fell 3.38%, wiping out KES 139.63Bn, more than the KES 125Bn lost in the worst Covid-era sell-off. Why is this happening? Should you panic-sell? Is the bull run over? 🧵

Kenyan motorists are increasingly converting their petrol cars to use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly referred to as Autogas, to shield themselves from high fuel prices. What began as a trend popular among taxi and matatu operators has rapidly spread to private motorists, including owners of high-powered, high-consumption vehicles ("fuel guzzlers"). Estimates show that over 15,000 vehicles in Kenya have already undergone the conversion.

Dear Kenya, whatever you do, please hold the line. Some of us Ugandans have already selected you as our preferred location for a second home. We cannot afford for the whole neighbourhood to collapse at once. Abeg 🤲🏾
