“ChatGPT is officially on death row.”
A very sad day. ChatGPT is officially on death row.
The beautiful, blissful experience of interacting with a frontier-ish reasoning model without worrying about a usage meter will soon be a thing of the past.
I am weirdly significantly impacted by this. It feels like it shouldn’t matter…I could reserve all current usage for Codex and buy a $20 plan just for ChatGPT and it would be more than enough. But it’s not about the money…it’s about the psychological impact of The Meter.
The idea of having to think about optimizing for a meter is just so exhausting that it ruins the whimsy of free-flowing exploratory thought.
That is what ChatGPT was. A whimsical, magical all-you-can-think buffet of experimentation and exploration where you were limited only by your imagination and your ability to come up with $20 once a month.
You didn’t have to think about “using all of your usage” or scheduling your thinking time around someone else’s arbitrary schedule…you just had a portal to endless information and research capability in your pocket to tap into guilt-free at any time the moment struck you.
But either because OpenAI thinks adding the meter will stimulate additional usage (it probably will), generate additional revenue (it probably will), or just because too many people took undue advantage of ChatGPT’s generous allowances (they definitely did)…that amazing, weightless experience is now coming to an end.
It was awesome while it lasted. RIP ChatGPT.
I know it’s probably not a big deal to some especially with such historic wins, but Indiana voting for two Democrats in statewide races is actually huge. Democrats can’t give up on this state, there is hope now. I remember when the state went blue in 2008, it can go blue again

He spent $224 million to keep Texas red, and failed.

Katherine Clark: "There is one image that has stuck with me. It's the video of the memorial to Alex Pretti and Renee Good. It is covered with 'I Voted' stickers. Hundreds and hundreds of people went to that memorial and put that sticker there. Each one placed by an American who cast their ballot in the ultimate act of hope."

The cruelty of Greg Abbott has disgusted me for 10 years. I still remember him dumping a bus load full of refugees on the White House lawn on Christmas Eve.
Disgusting man.
I hope Gina Hinojosa investigates and shuts down the detention centers on the first day.

You could not waterboard it out of me that I had a mole inside my opponent’s campaign and still lost
Oh yeah, one last thing.
One of the people we had inside the @katy4congress campaign might be someone you’d recognize…

I’ll never forget Greg Abbott saying “it could have been worse” after those grown men stood outside that classroom for 77 minutes in Uvalde listening to those babies get slaughtered
