And then it tanks, meaning that the outcome of the entire independence project is permanently reduced living standards and depopulation as the young and talented leave to resume normal lives elsewhere. @Williamgallus avoids that part by blocking people who make it.

As I see it, we habitually address medical doctors as “Dr Smith” because it’s sometimes vitally important to know who the doctor is. Nobody ever needs to know who does or does not hold a PhD in Gaelic poetry.
Why does @nytimes use “Dr. Amodei,” in clear violation of its stylebook?

Bet that’ll give the Ukrainians the hump.
In the Irkutsk region, a Russian shaman intends to sacrifice 60 camels to ask the Slavic gods for victory over Ukraine.

Furthermore, this law would clearly require a new regulator - Ofwank - staffed by seasoned onanists. No budget seems to have been allotted.
It’s perfectly reasonable for the public to challenge an MP who made a vague, poorly-worded bill, who evidently doesn’t comprehend the ramifications of her authoritarian piece of law. Three deleted tweets of hers showing so. Not out of context, precisely in context. She fully admits she has no clue as to what her bill purports - ie, key words such as “unlikely,” “engaged with regulators” etc.

Yeah, several times. It involved mass murder every time.
Has anyone done this same thing with Christianity or Islam or whatever, like purging it of all its supernatural elements to create a generic humanist philosophy separate from the religion itself? I think you could emerge with something nearly identical to western Buddhism.

Because if there’s one real menace in Britain right now, it’s dishonest hoteliers.
Exc: Evasion of Angela Rayner’s new “tourist tax” will carry a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison. The measures, set out in a bill published on Wednesday, target accommodation providers in England who evade the proposed overnight visitor levy. The new legislation is also designed to prevent property owners offering “mates’ rates” to friends that would reduce the amount of tax paid on temporary stays.

Why terrifies me is if Robert Catesby & Guy Fawkes were to murder the King, Queen, Prince Henry, most of the bishops & peers, the Privy Council, and half the gentlemen of England, leading to anarchy, civil war & Spanish domination. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Catholics?

Following Sir Winston Churchill’s death, his widow Clementine received many letters. One particularly poignant, “That he died is unimportant, for we must all pass away. That he lived is momentous to the destiny of all. He is not gone. He lives wherever men are free.”

To be fair, Trump struggles to find men stupid enough to serve in his cabinet. In that respect, Hegseth is ideal.
It was always clear Hegseth was out of his depth, and now he will become the fall guy for the midterms. Nobody more deserving.

“NGOs and Charities, are paid by the state to advise on policies which impact what they do for the state.” This is quite deliberate. The state lobbies itself to do the (often unpopular) things it wants to do anyway, from beneath a veneer of expert opinion/grassroots pressure.
Like Capita, and Serco, the NGO, and charitable sector IS the delivery arm of the state. For many of these "charities", government contracts are their main source of income. This means: * These NGOs and Charities have a conflict of interest. * There is a circle jerk whereby NGOs and Charities, are paid by the state to advise on policies which impact what they do for the state. * Governments cannot reform delivery since their service partners have a lock on them. * So this is actually a public-private shadow government. * Paradoxically the right needs to embrace nationalisation if it wants to tackle the blob.

What a repulsive man.
Michigan's Democratic candidate for Senate Abdul El-Sayed confronted @jamesmatthewsky, telling him he wouldn't answer his questions as he wants "zero" votes in the UK. Watch the heated exchange between the two. Watch our live coverage of the US midterms➡️ trib.al/BikRSb2
