I’m excited to co-host this screening at @founders_cafe, which is a change of pace from the normal events we host in the cafe.
The fun part of working at @AngelList is I can host events for things that I think are cool, which are mostly robots, but also includes Turkish-American female filmmakers. DM for an RSVP link!

Hosting a screening & conversation in honor of filmmaker Amy Omar when she'll be visiting SF.
January 7. Thank you @AngelList for hosting us.
A great way to learn about entering the film world and how you can support a great new feature film happening.
DM me for RSVP link.

Funding rounds aren't milestones. It shouldn't be your goal to raise a series A. It should be your goal not to need to.

reading this, fun to see a breakdown of ambition
Hi, I'm Felix. I'm an eng lead working on Claude. I love watching people take flight and do things they never thought possible.
We often describe that as "being more ambitious" when using AI, which is tricky advice to follow. I wrote a tutorial:
felixrieseberg.com/how-to-be…
This reminds me of a funny story about my dad. When my parents immigrated from S Korea in the late 80s, they did the most stereotypical Korean immigrant thing which was open up a dry cleaners. The dry cleaners they took over was called Phil’s Cleaners. Customers thought his name was Phil, and so he became Phil. He couldn’t even say the name Phil.
10 years later, we moved from New York to southern California and my parents took over a smoke shop called Cigarette King. He didn’t smoke. He stopped going by Phil and “cigarette king” never took off as a nickname for him so he ended up adopting an anglicized version of his Korean name (Young).
Anyway, after my parents sold the smoke shop many years later, he opened up an Etsy shop and called it Young Wood Signs which he still runs today. It does okay (the margins are terrible) but it makes him happy. He gets to work from the backyard and make things with his hands.
Nice to meet you, Craig!
I call this the Jedi/Sith theory of management
Some people on your team respond to a Jedi approach with mentorship, teaching, discipline etc where they eventually become your peer
Sith-types require an approach that acknowledges the standing power struggle and keeps in mind that in the best scenario, they will rise up one day and kill you

Who are the rising stars amongst tech founders and AI builders?
We're hosting an event for 1,000+ people in NYC in November
We have high-profile speakers already, but are looking for a couple of less discovered people with a fantastic trajectory to put on stage
@ them below
working at @AngelList was like managing 3 mini startups while keeping up with a high velocity of SPV and fund deals in the most talent dense founder environment you’ve ever seen
all while everyone outside thought you worked at a job board

Next time you hear me go on and on about banyan trees at a dinner party, you can blame this excellent deep dive from @haridigresses and the two hundred self-actualizers at @AngelList I'm proud to co-obsess with every day.
Join us in NYC!
Two weeks ago, we announced the Outliers Summit (Nov 5–6), a two-day gathering for founders, operators, and builders bringing unreasonably ambitious ideas to life.
Hosted with my friend @ankurnagpal and @AngelList
We underestimated the demand for it.
Since launching, we've had HUNDREDS of people apply.
- The Former C-suite of a $100B public company now working on something new
- The CTO of a mental fitness app with >$600M raised and a multi-billion-dollar valuation
- Execs at companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, Stripe, BCG, PwC, and more
The applications have been pouring in, far more than we expected, and our team needs more time to review them all properly.
So we're making a call: early-bird pricing stays open through September 1.
If you apply between now and then, you're locked in at the early-bird rate. After September 1, prices go up 30%.
Quick reminder of what you're applying for: two days in NYC (November 5 and 6) with the most unreasonably ambitious builders, founders, and operators I know.
One day to build with the AI tools that all the high-level builders are using.
Another day for the candid, off-the-record conversations you won't hear on a podcast.
Speakers include:
- @rrhoover
- @shl
- @dunn
- @nateliason
- @zsims
- @niks
& many more.
If you're unreasonably ambitious and want to meet other builders, founders, and CEOs in New York. This is the place to be.
Apply to attend below.

"reconciliation isn't merely important, it's everything [...] automated reconciliation is the single most important unlock"
I spent ~2 yrs @AngelList leading the team automating financials for 10s of thousands of funds. Proud of what we built and glad to see AL carry it forward.
As someone who identifies as selfish, one of the most delightful things about parenthood has been discovering how much joy there is in giving. Sure, both my body and Spotify algorithm is fucked up beyond belief but when I give Milo my best strawberry and he smiles at me, I know I’ll happily give him the best of every piece of fruit until the day I die
A lot of people aren't going to want to hear this but much of the "depression" that parents (and not just moms) suffer after child birth is due not so much to hormones but to the fact that children, especially babies, are demanding and difficult and require us to subordinate our own needs and desires for their sake. The more selfish you are, the more of an adjustment it's going to be.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Medical sources say postpartum depression is multifactorial. Rapid drops in estrogen and progesterone after birth are key biological factors, along with sleep loss and adjustment stress. It is not primarily attributed to selfishness.

I always admired AngelList’s culture going back to when I browsed the site looking for new startups in 2011 (pre-Product Hunt).

"We are delighted to have selected" is the most alpha shit I've read in a long time

We created a pitch deck to tell a handful of VC firms about us and what we were up to (a fun experience!). Here’s a few slides about our background and some of the things we’ve worked on from the pitch deck (it was fun putting together the list of people in our teams who have gone on to found a whole range of exciting companies). We are delighted to have selected @radicalvcfund
and @khoslaventures to lead our initial funding round, along with participation from @lightspeedvp, @kleinerperkins, Doerr Capital (@johndoerr), and Alphabet (@Google). We’ll be working with them to close our seed round over the next few weeks.
