Yeah, but it’s a dry grief.

two things: 1. with how Twitter is acting over art prices and AI accusations, I don't think I could have typed out a more prescient piece of bullshit 5 days ago 2. I'm ADHD and I forgot number 2 irrezolut.com <3
I could type something salacious and we could pretend it's worth fanning the flames of warming a fresh pot of tea, but we both know that all I'm really doing here is trying to get yo to look at my website So let's skip ahead irrezolut.com

I see more and more young artists complaining about prices other artists are charging for things. As an older guy now who’s been a professional artists for decades let me just weigh in. First, the market and their audience decides prices, not other artists. When you whine about other artists you sound bitter. Not a good look. Second, if you’re constantly complaining about high art prices you’re essentially a participant in cultivating a culture that monetarily devalues art. Good luck making a living yourself with art in the future in the world you’re creating. Third, watch out for being a crab in the bucket. Always trying to pull down the ones above you trying to move up. If you know people like this in real life you know you hate being around them. Lastly, the internet thrives on negativity not goodness. Try and use it for good.

The demand that artists do 200-500% of the work required for the actual thing they make is utterly absurd. We didn't create the plagiarism machine. We didn't shape the algo. We didn't pivot to video. We just asked you to look at our art. With your eyes, not your fucking hands.

Now it's all churned up in a slurry factory and it's called "content" and everyone expects so much of it so often that it sets yet another bad baseline for creative people. Can't just share your work! Gotta share your process! Gotta document it all! Even if you're bad at video!

And for what? Tools that allow the unskilled and the lazy to repeatedly game the system. It happens on every social and commercial platform. Genuine quality and care don't count for much in the face of a firehose of low-quality posts from platforms soaked with dark patterns.

also also: still mad that updates to my site haven't propegated through to the rest of the internet (it's just the social/share graphic, nbd I guess it'll eventually get thru)

Finishing up tests today for my (now) yearly cancer follow-up. Back in the studio tomorrow to work a few paintings and post details for ongoing commission offerings. Meantime, I have 50+ originals available right now in a wide range of sizes/prices. Please check them out. : )
I think it is possible that I will be posting links and requests for attention every day until it is no longer feasible to do so. Right now, your eyes would be most appreciated. irrezolut.com/originals

Very frustrated by how Squarespace somehow manages to make my website look and behave like shit from a butt on mobile when it looks fantastic and works great in a browser. I thought the whole promise always included that the designs will seamlessly work on both

Instead I’m constantly fighting with the platform while I build. And it’s distracting to try to figure out problems while trying to also complete the work of updating and maintaining the content
