"We do not all need to come to Kampala to do business. Industrial parks should be established closer to areas where natural resources are found, creating regional value chains, stimulating local economies and attracting more investment" - Robert Mukiza (DG, @ugandainvest)

@ugandainvest Director General @mukiza_robert also met Øystein Botillen, Director, Strategic Partnerships at Yara International, and other dignitaries in Oslo, Norway, to explore Yara’s entry into Uganda as a fertilizer producer and blender, not only an importer. He highlighted opportunities in NPK blending, phosphate processing, agronomy and distribution, leveraging Uganda’s raw materials, hydropower and strategic access to South Sudan, eastern DRC and Rwanda. “With our hydropower base, Uganda can be a hub for low-carbon fertilizer for the region.” @mukiza_robert invited Yara to send a technical team to Tororo and UIA industrial parks before year-end to assess opportunities for a blending plant. #InvestInUganda

As part of ongoing efforts to attract Norwegian investment into Uganda, @ugandainvest Director General @mukiza_robert met Stein Gunnar Hansen, Head of International and Arctic Relations, and solar representatives from Renewables Norway in Oslo. The DG highlighted opportunities for Norwegian renewable energy companies in utility-scale solar, rooftop and ground-mounted solar with storage, solar mini-grids and clean cooking, particularly for industrial parks and rural agro-processing hubs. “Norway and Uganda share something: both built their economies on hydropower. We now want to add solar at scale,” he said He invited Renewables Norway to connect UIA with 3-4 member companies and explore a delegation to Kampala in 2027. #InvestInUganda

@ugandainvest’s Director General @mukiza_robert further noted that Uganda’s economy is growing at around 6%, while first oil is opening up new opportunities. However, job-creating sectors such as agro-processing, light manufacturing and logistics continue to face a shortage of patient equity. “That is exactly where Norfund can play a role.” “At UIA, we have a pipeline of mid-sized businesses ready to scale, including coffee and dairy processors, packaging, cold-chain, solar and clean-cooking enterprises. My ask is simple: can we agree on a joint pipeline review within the next 60 days, with UIA presenting five to ten investment-ready companies for consideration?” He said UIA will make the process easy. Through our One Stop Centre, investors can access licensing, land, and permits under one roof, while Uganda allows 100% foreign ownership and full repatriation of profits. “We would also welcome Norfund co-investing alongside Ugandan pension funds and local banks, helping deepen local capital markets and build capacity through shared investment." #InvestInUganda

@ugandainvest Director General @mukiza_robert and other dignitaries from the Embassy of Uganda in Copenhagen met the Norad team, development finance and the Founding CEO of Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund to explore support that can de-risk private investment in Uganda. “Norway has been a long-standing partner to Uganda, including through the Oil for Development programme that helped strengthen our petroleum governance,” he said As first oil arrives, Uganda’s priority is to build a broad industrial economy, not just generate revenue. Norad’s partnership can help make this possible. #InvestInUganda

@ugandainvest Director General @mukiza_robert: “Uganda should not be viewed only as a domestic market, but as a strategic gateway to the wider African market. With access to the EAC (300m), COMESA (600m) and AfCFTA (1.4b people), investors establishing in Uganda are well positioned to tap into Africa’s vast market and future growth.” #InvestInUganda
