The midterms this week were a good reminder of how differently markets can interpret the same event.
For some, a Democratic sweep meant less political uncertainty and more stability. For others, it raised concerns about tighter AI regulation and potential restrictions on data-center expansion.
Same election, same results, but two very different narratives. And both can be true.
It’s interesting how easily we mistake one side of a story for the whole picture. We read the headlines, watch the market react, and assume we understand what’s happening.
But there’s a difference between seeing and observing.
So true. Getting comfortable with being a beginner is one of the most underrated parts of personal growth. You can't really grow if you're too busy trying to look like you already have it all figured out.
Spent some time with The Good Place again today and came across this line that I absolutely love:
“We choose to be good because of our bonds with other people and our innate desire to treat them with dignity.”
One thing I love about this show is the reminder that we don't become better people in isolation. So much of who we are comes from the people around us, the way they treat us, and how we choose to treat them in return.
A little more kindness and understanding can go a long way. And honestly, the world could use more of both.
Some of the biggest things we put off in life don’t come with deadlines. And maybe that’s exactly why we keep putting them off.
AI is making it easier than ever to turn ideas into something real.
but i'm starting to wonder if doing more and actually getting somewhere are becoming two very different things.
some interesting numbers from 2026:
- a CEPR study tracked 26,811 students over 30 months. After adopting AI, their homework scores went up 18% and they finished 30% faster. But within six months, their closed-book exam scores had fallen 20%.
- in a UNSW experiment, students using ChatGPT scored 89% on coding tasks, compared with 69% for students using regular web search. But 48 hours later, they remembered less: 39% vs. 52%.
- a BCG survey of 1,488 workers found that self-reported productivity rose with up to three AI tools used at once, but dropped with four or more.
- UC Berkeley researchers spent eight months studying a ~200-person tech company. Instead of freeing up time, AI use came with faster work, more tasks, and longer hours.
- nearly 560,000 new apps hit the App Store in the first half of 2026, almost as many as all of 2025. Yet downloads grew just 2%.
we can build more, write more, and get things done faster than ever.
but doing more doesn't always mean we're learning more, making better decisions, or spending our time on what actually matters.

Couldn't agree more. We spend so much time trying to minimize downside that we forget uncertainty has upside too.
Honestly, some of the best things in my life came from saying yes way before I had it all figured out. Scary at the time, but zero regrets.
Playing it safe has an opportunity cost of its own. It's just harder to see.
