Kalshi is the only place on earth where you can make $9k by knowing the difference between a noun and a verb. On the JPM earnings call this morning, they said "to buy back stock", which does not count for a strike in the noun form of "buyback". Been on vacation for 2 weeks, this was a nice way to get back into kalshi 😂

It seems there are other ways to make money on Kalshi besides Mentions. Weird.

Kalshi: the only place on earth where the simple recognition of apologetic language can earn you a weeks' salary

It's starting to feel like Trump gives us one disputed kalshi market per week... In this case, he posted something that included an Amazon link: something like, "amazon-dot-com/product-url-gibberish". Folks were apparently under the impression that it wouldn't count, despite the fact that there is a provision in the rules for URLs that made this a pretty obvious Y. In hindsight, I could have sized into this much more than I did. Lesson learned.

Another Trump Weekly mention market, another very interesting, very disputed strike - and another decent $1500 gain. Trump posted "J.D." but was clearly referring to the abbreviation for Juris Doctor, not his Veep. Folks were quite confused as to whether or not that would count for the strike of JD / Vance. It did. This market raised interesting questions about whether the intent behind a strike - or the ‘spirit’ of a market - really matters when it comes time for resolution. But precedent had shown us that it really doesn't. What matters is, "was the strike mentioned in a way that meets the criteria set forth in the rules?" In this case, yes, JD clearly was mentioned.

If ur wondering how I was so confident: we made an app called FlexBucks which, among other things, includes a Case Library that documents how Kalshi has ruled on past disputed markets. When a new dispute arises, just ask the custom LLM how Kalshi will rule, and it tells you. See link in bio!

Are Kalshi Mentions markets dead, dying, or just going through a rough patch? I don't really know, but we had at least one more fun ride this past weekend. Trump was quoted as saying "Bibi" in an Axios article. Folks thought it wouldn't count for one silly reason or another. They were mistaken.

My family will be "dining" at Cava for the next 1204 days, as they were not impacted by "clyclospora"

July ended with a cool milestone: $100k in profit on Kalshi. Pretty wild! If you're wondering: Less than 5 months ago, I started trading (mostly) Mentions markets. I'd say the key components to succeeding with this are: software, time, understanding the nuances of the rules, good judgment, and community for bouncing ideas around. Come chill with us on discord if you want to get into it.

Meta post (lol) I must ask you: why on earth would a company called Meta, whose principal business endeavor is to make and sell advertising technology, mention the word "advertising" on their earnings call?
I must ask you: why on earth would a company called Wingstop, whose principal business endeavor is to make and sell fried chicken, mention “chicken” or “tenders” on their earnings call? Easy W. Actually, it was a massive sweat. Definitely a fun one.

Great point. Along the same lines, offering a nominal same-game parlay odds boost so the payout is only wildly below fair value (instead of catastrophically below fair value) is also an indispensable public utility. Thank you and Kalshi both for your service to humanity.

You win some, you lose some. This time, I definitely winned some. Laura Sanko slipped in a little "slip", Freudian or otherwise, midway through the 2nd round of this ufc fight on Saturday. I'll post the audio in the comments below - it was tough to catch. Luckily I heard it live. I saw that someone had been bonding the "No's" at the end of every fight, so I just let this one sit there until it ended. Hence, I was able to grab about 4k shares at 1 cent each.

You win some, you lose some. This time, I definitely losed some. I was under the (quite incorrect, as it turns out) impression that "YouTube, Shorts" would count for "YouTube Shorts". I'll add the clip in the comments below. In truth, I thought to myself "YouTube Shorts is a part of YouTube, so why would someone make a list of items that goes "YouTube, Shorts, Maps" ... but in Google parlance, they separate YouTube and Shorts into discrete business units (at least in the way they discuss them on earnings calls) and exclusively refer to YouTube Shorts as "Shorts". Tough pill to swallow, but lesson learned! Onward...

Farewell World Cup. Life is not the same without you, and the free $1k + per day that you proffered. Rest in peace dear brother😢 What a crazy, bizarre world we live in. Fun times. Anyways, I'm told by seasoned Kalshi traders (I've been at this for ~4 months) that the NFL will bring similar volume and enjoyment. What are we supposed to do for the next 10 weeks??

I listened to Brazil v Scotland live yesterday and at first could not believe my ears when the announcer called one of the players a “trump card”. Fortunately, neither could other mentions traders - so I was able to buy a whole lot of Trump Y.
