The AI in music narrative being ‘keep up or get left behind’ is so backwards. The entire purpose of creating art is the process. It’s about overcoming doubt & imposters syndrome, followed by a true feeling of pride in your work because you experienced what it took to get the result, the good and the bad. AI in music at this level is the very antithesis of this process and of Art. It is lifeless, effortless, and an insult to anyone who has put true time into learning a craft. We cannot take things like this lightly or it will consume us, and our scene. It needs to be called out and the discourse needs to continue.. or else we will become numb to it and say ‘that’s just the way it is’ But it’s NOT It IS a problem. and truthfully if that’s still the narrative ‘keep up or get left behind’ … I’ll voluntarily stay behind and at least be proud of what I make.
