Jordan Morgan

To all the Michigan fans who are already calling for the heads of Whittingham and his staff, allow me to provide some perspective. Coach Whit got hired late in the cycle after our previous coach had a meltdown at the most in opportune time. An enormous amount of key players hit the portal and this staff stepped in and saved almost all of them in their first few days in Ann Arbor (which was miraculous to say the least). Now, we’re looking at a team that has committed far too many penalties and continues to struggle in the red zone. It’s easy to yell “fire the coaches” but that shows a real lack of understanding of the entire situation. Penalties absolutely fall on the coaches, but you know what else causes penalties… youth. Reminder that Michigan currently has the youngest team in the Big Ten. At the end of the day, what we need to see is progress, and the truth is, we are seeing progress. Beck has struggled to catch a rhythm but his play-calling is getting better. Hill’s defense is actually over-performing where I thought we would be at this point. And perhaps most importantly, our top-ranked QB recruit is finally starting to look like he may develop into one of the most elite dual threat QB’s in the country. When was the last time we had two 100-yard receivers in a single game? I get it. Losing hurts. Especially the way we lost yesterday. I probably feel that hurt more than most Michigan fans. The connection I feel to this team is probably a diagnosable mental illness. But if the first thing you do when times get hard is go on X and post “fire the coaching staff and I hope Bryce transfers” then you have no right to celebrate with us when they turn into a championship team. Having patience is hard in today’s college game but this staff deserves at least a 2 year window to show us what they can do. As always, Go Blue!
