Imagine getting half of your paycheck docked for two months straight but instead of having the courtesy of an explanation from your boss, you get a sticky note that says “they’ll be back shortly 😃👍!”. The DistroKid situation is a reality check for us independent artists that we are one royal fuck up away from losing it all.
And this from a person that HAS their music diversified. I claim royalties from three different distribution platforms yet this still hurts me - it really puts into perspective how scary it is to be fully relying on your art and if I didn’t have a support circle I would be screwed from paying bills on time
