THE GUY WHO RAN PRODUCT AT X UNTIL AUGUST SPENT A YEAR EXPLAINING WHY YOUR REACH DIES. ALMOST NOBODY LISTENED
i went through nikita bier's posts and podcast interviews. here's what he actually said, and what i'd do with it
1. when people complain about reach, he says it's almost always one of these: too many posts in a short window (the author diversity rule), going quiet for so long the algo has no recent signal on you, or just bad content
my take: stop hunting for a shadowban. space your posts out and show up every day
2. for you is "based heavily on passive signals: dwell time, clicks, share"
my take: a like is the cheapest thing you can earn. write the post people stop and actually read
3. on gm posts he said when nobody engages, the algorithm has no signal to rank you, so when you finally post something important it gets buried
my take: filler isn't harmless. every dead post tells the system your audience doesn't care
4. in july x started boosting your posts to mutuals, people you follow back, so clusters form around interests
my take: a small account grows faster inside a tight circle of real people in its niche than by chasing strangers
5. "if you are a creator that does not recycle other people's content, you have the biggest arbitrage opportunity of your career to build an audience here. the algorithm may take time to recognize you, but when it does, you will climb faster"
my take: originality is the edge right now. x detects copied posts and sends the paid impressions to whoever posted first
none of this is a hack. it's a boring loop: consistent, original, written for people who read
it's also the rulebook we build xamm around

ONE OF THE VIEWS MAFIA BOSSES DM'D ME AFTER MY LAST POST.
A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS INSIDE.
No phones past the door. basement, one bulb, people in hoodies, every screen split into dozens of browser windows
Nobody posts the same reply twice. X flags repeated wording as copypasta, so every account has its own voice and its own phrasing
The first 2 hours decide everything. they don't spread activity over the day, they jump on a post the second it goes live, while X is still deciding who else sees it
Likes are the cheap part. what they chase is replies and people reading to the end. that's what ranking weighs now
And they treat every account like it can die tomorrow. one label and it's invisible to non-followers. nothing important ever lives on one account
Most useful evening i've had for xamm.io in a while. now i know what X catches and why, and we build so our clients' accounts never look like that basement
EVERY X LINK you've ever COPIED HAS A SECRET in it
look at the numbers after /status/. they're not random. that long number is a timestamp, and it's way more precise than anything x shows you
the first part is the exact millisecond the post was created, counted from november 4, 2010. the next bits say which x server made it. the last ones are a counter
example: x.com/EugBass/status/2116171…
decode it and you get october 30, 14:12:01.697 utc. the post itself only shows you the minute
so when someone drops a screenshot "proving" they called the pump a week early, paste their link into any snowflake decoder. the id doesn't lie
and the stuff after the "?" in a copied link? that's a share tag. x adds it when you hit copy link, and it can point back to whoever shared it. delete everything after the "?" and the post still opens fine
copy a link from your feed right now and check
everyone's calling the binance thing a hack. i think it's a design flaw crypto has had since day one
one devops engineer's laptop got compromised and about $6.3b walked out the door. biggest loss crypto has ever seen, and the whole world watched it happen onchain in real time
that's the first thing about crypto. you can't hide a hack here. a bank can keep a breach quiet for months. here every transfer is public within minutes
the second thing is worse. the money doesn't come back
when someone breaks into a bank, the money never really leaves the system. the bank owns the rails, so it freezes the transfer and rolls it back before most clients even notice
look at what got frozen this time. around $3b, and a big chunk of that only because tether and circle can lock their own stablecoins. the hacker already got around some freezes by borrowing on aave. the rest is moving
binance says it will cover user losses from its own funds. good for users. but that's a company's balance sheet saving the day, the protocol itself can't undo anything
"your keys, your money" sounds great until you realize it also means nobody can roll back a mistake. if you don't own the system, you can't control it when it breaks
so trust in crypto takes another hit. next time it'll be a different laptop and a different exchange, and the outcome will be the same
a modern car has brakes. a driverless train doesn't. once it's moving, all you can do is watch where it ends up
the job for crypto right now is to build for the day things go wrong. brakes first, before the next headline comes with a bigger number
claude accounts are getting banned left and right
it's not random. every account runs on a hidden score. you get points at signup, every action adds or takes some, and once you drop below the line you're out. getting points back is close to impossible
here's why yours might be next:
1/ dirty ip
the biggest factor of all. doesn't have to be residential, just clean
2/ you paid too fast
subscribing the minute you register costs points. jumping straight to max costs a lot more. wait two days and start with pro
3/ virtual card
a real foreign bank card adds points, a virtual one takes them away
4/ ip hopping
switching ips, logging in over and over, lots of sessions at once. all big hits
5/ too many devices
several machines on one account is one of the worst things you can do. one computer, one client
6/ you burn the limit in one go
maxing it out every session drains the score
7/ linux
costs you points. windows and mac don't
8/ web only
the desktop and phone apps give small bonuses, the browser doesn't
9/ fresh account
accounts from 2023 survive mistakes that kill new ones. the score grows with time, just slowly
what helps: clean ip from day one, signup through the mobile app, memory turned on, one stable setup
the warning sign is random logouts. that's the watch period. keep losing points during it and the account is gone
none of this is official, it's what people found by testing
X just admitted in writing what views farmers have been cashing in on for months
Two new lines showed up today in the changelog of x's open source algorithm. the changes behind them went live weeks ago. on oct 8 the ranking got much better at guessing how long you'll sit on a post, and on oct 13 the part that shows your stuff to people who don't follow you started getting trained on one thing: did they read it to the end
If you're under 10k followers, that second line is basically your whole growth. strangers are the only new readers you have, and x now decides what strangers see partly by whether people finish your post
The numbers have been pointing there all month.
likes went up to 0.66.
The time spent score jumped 50%. stay 10+ seconds after tapping in and that's another 0.4, while opening and bouncing gets you 0.3 and that's it.
Copy link shares still sit on top at 20. replies, quotes and dm shares get 5 each, and two mutuals replying to each other get 20, which is why the chats i wrote about work so well
Bookmarks count for zero. so does watching a video
what kills you is worse than what helps. one likely "not interested" costs -52.27, so a random off-topic post can sink a good week.
Replies and reposts never leave your bubble because only originals reach strangers. drop two posts back to back and the second one counts 62%. and if your account picks up a single label, reach to non-followers is gone
The first 2 hours and first 200 views still decide everything. posting at 3am because you couldn't sleep burns that window for nothing
Farmers were building around all of this long before x said a word. that's how a 421-follower account does 180k on one post
how they actually do it is in the article below🖖

holy sh*t, I woke up and found THIS crawling on my pillow
ok not literally. but it's there every night, just too small to see.
so I asked Claude to make it big.
one prompt -> a live dashboard with a giant 3D dust mite model, crawling across a pillow fiber in real time, with counters for everything it's doing in your bed
what I learned while Claude built it:
-> they live near the head of your bed, right where you breathe all night
-> they eat the skin you shed in your sleep
-> each one makes up to 20 droppings a day, and that's what you're allergic to
-> one female lays up to 80 eggs
-> dead ones still trigger allergies, so killing them isn't enough
-> a 30° wash won't cut it. the NHS says 60°C
I can't unsee it. I'm washing everything tonight.
and here's the part nobody tells you:
this is the exact formula behind every post that pulls millions of views. something people can't stop looking at + something they didn't know + a reason to share it.
that's the whole playbook of the views farming mafia, and guys broke it down in the article below

btw, you can have Grok Bot monitor and text you whenever the 𝕏 algo changes.
Just copy/paste this into your Bot:

grok bot is the most underrated content tool.
I created a prompt which has generated me 21.4 million views on x in 1 month.
the prompt has 2 jobs.
1. hunts for viral x formats
rules: 10x+ outliers, must have gone viral more than twice and within 72 hrs.
2. asks me for input
every night grok bot asks me "how did your day go".
I reply with the client conversations I had, what's going on in my personal life and offload my thoughts.
grok bot takes my input and combines it with the viral formats.
every morning I wake up to 3 drafts in my own voice.
I make the final changes and post.

SAAS IS DEAD
AI can copy anything in a few hours
UNLESS you have a moat
things AI can't copy:
→ platform approvals (meta, tiktok, youtube)
→ legal licenses (banking, healthcare)
→ proprietary data (years of unscrapeable data)
→ distribution (audience, rankings, SEO)
→ founder brand (people buy from you, not your code)
before you build anything, you need to know what your moat is
introducing doesithaveamoat.com
→ find niches with strong moats
→ check your startup and find the moat you're missing
→ see which startups printing $$ you could copy in a day
what's your moat?
Honestly, that's a terrible result.
$15K for a campaign already doesn't look like "real marketing for a big project".
And this is Kaito, one of the biggest marketing names in web3, posting it like a win!!!
$19 per 1,000 views is bad. Spend the same on good SEO or UGC content and even a weak result comes in under $10.
At XAMM our worst-case KPI is $15 CPM!
A closer look at Kaito Select in practice.
@jumperapp’s campaign attracted 2,065 applications, with 62 creators publishing 119 eligible posts.
Together, they generated 764K+ impressions at an $18.90 CPM.

how X ranks your posts (breakdown of the new algo update)
the X algo predicts how each person will react to your post, and that then decides if and where it shows up in their feed
here's how much each reaction counts, compared with a like:
> someone copies the link: 30x
> someone you follow back replies: 30x
> a reply, a quote or a DM share: 7.6x
> a follow from the post: 6x
> a repost: 1.5x
> a like: 1x
> a bookmark: 0
the negative actions weigh far more, a report is -355x a like, a mute -89x, "not interested" -79x and a block -47x
if X predicts someone is likely to mute or report your post, it ranks lower in their feed
reports get a big weight because they are rare, a report is over 1,000x less likely than a like
these rules decide how far a post can reach:
> if you have 50,000 followers or fewer, X can boost a new original post up to about 16th place in someone's feed
> the boost only works in the post's first 2 hours, and stops once the post has 200 views in the Home feed
> X boosts one post each time a feed loads, and it prefers posts that got the most likes per view from their first viewers
> after 48 hours, X stops putting your post in people's feeds
> your replies and reposts only show up in the feeds of people who follow you
> original posts can also reach people who don't follow you, X scores them 25% lower for those people
> when several of your posts compete for one person's feed, the 2nd keeps 62.5% of its score and the 3rd keeps 43.75%
> replies, quotes, DM shares and copied links only count when people find your post in their feed, so engagement from a group chat link adds nothing
> if X labels your post low quality, it shows a notice on it and people can't like, reply, repost, bookmark or share it, misinformation labels can limit it too
what I'd do with it (my read of the weights):
> post when you can reply in the first 2 hours
> write posts people want to quote, reply to or send in a DM
> reply back to accounts that follow you
> post originals when you want to reach new people
X ALGORITHM UPDATE 🚨
X just stopped cutting new posts first, and that should help small accounts (I check it daily with Claude and share updates worth sharing with you)
tl;dr:
- X can only check 2,800 posts each time you open your feed
- new posts used to be last in line, so they got cut first
- now everything gets cut equally, new posts included
- posts labeled low quality or misinfo now show a warning, and people can't like, reply or share them
- no score changes this time
lesson learned: your new posts now get a fair chance to be seen. Your first 2 hours still matter most.
full details:
- How it worked until this week
Every time someone opens For You, X collects around 3,700 posts it could show them: posts from people they follow, popular posts, posts liked by similar people, and brand new posts.
But X only has time to check 2,800 of them.
So it just took the first 2,800 in line. Brand new posts were at the back of the line. When there were too many, they were the ones left out... and a post that never gets checked can't be shown.
- What changed
Now everything gets cut by the same amount. 25% too many? Every type of post loses 25%, new posts included. Nobody goes first.
- Why small accounts should care
Those brand new posts are under 2 hours old, with under 8 likes and under 500 views. That's where most posts from smaller accounts are.
My read: they now get a fair chance instead of being cut first. How often X actually hits the 2,800 limit isn't in the code, so I can't tell you how big the difference is.
- Low quality and misinfo posts now show a warning
If X labels your post as low quality or misinformation, people who don't follow you see a warning on it, and they can't like, reply, repost, bookmark or share it. The code doesn't say what gets a post that label.
Here's a recap of what you should be doing:
- a new post gets its extra push only in its first 2 hours and first 200 views, so post when your people are online
- likes carry more weight than ever at 0.66 each
- people sticking around pays, the time-spent score is 50% higher than two weeks ago
- a read of 10+ seconds after someone opens your post adds 0.4
- the boost favors the post with the best like rate from its first viewers
- accounts up to 50K can get one fresh original lifted to roughly 16th
- nothing beats a copy link share, it scores 20
- replies, quotes and DM shares each score 5
- talk with your mutuals, replies between you score 20 instead of 5
- originals are the only posts that travel outside your follower base
- the 1st and the 32nd like each open a new route to strangers
- your 2nd post in the same feed is worth 62% of the first, so pick your best one
- videos still need 10+ seconds to qualify for the video lists
- earning a follow adds 4
- a pinned post with a bad link can flag the account for 7 days, worth a quick check
What you should NOT be doing:
- posts that get labeled low quality or misinfo now carry a warning, and nobody outside your followers can like or share them
- video alone won't carry you, an open counts 0.02 and the watch 0
- hide-worthy posts cost more, "not interested" sits at -52.27
- a post at 3am burns its 2 hour window before anyone sees it
- a tap that turns into a bounce is worth only 0.3
- replies and reposts don't get past your followers
- insults get your post hidden from anyone who doesn't follow you
- adult media in 3 of your last 5 posts puts a label on your account
- disguised content in videos gets checked from 64 likes, harder at 512
- self-reply chains under big accounts risk being zeroed
- one account label and non-followers stop seeing you entirely
- low-rated links don't belong in your pinned post
- recycled wording can get tagged as copypasta spam
- strangers tagged plus a low quality link is a pattern X flags
- engagement bait has no size exemption
- several posts in a row end up competing with each other
- hashtag stacks add nothing
- bookmarks are still worth 0
- 48 hours in, For You is finished with a post
