Alright @DeptVetAffairs @SecVetAffairs I gave you guys a chance. Here we go. August 26th 8:30 am I went to urgent care to get x rays on my wrist. They told me I have not one but TWO fractures in my wrist. I immediately call the Va to inform them and to get messages to my provider for the next steps as urgent care referred me out to an orthopedic specialist. Fast forward (same day) I had to call patient advocacy because everyone at the VA was telling me 1-3 weeks for the provider to even see the notes. Provider called me that night at 8:30 pm and ordered new x rays. August 28th I completed said x rays at the local Va clinic AND 9:57 those x rays were CONFIRMED that I have two fractures in my wrist. September 2nd I call to get a message to my provider. It’s now September 4th. On a “holiday weekend” and I have not received a call OR message from my provider saying he put the referral in or any plan of action. Do your job, why is it that hard. Why do I need to wait OVER a week when I have BROKEN BONES in my wrist to get a plan of action? OH AND BTW ITS YOUR OWN POLICY. VHA Directive 1088(1) — “Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.” Maintained that, with listed exceptions, test results requiring action must be communicated to patients within 7 calendar days from the date on which the results are available to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility ordering provider or designee and 14 days for those that do not require any action. Depending on the clinical context, the VA medical facility ordering provider or designee may need to review and communicate test results in shorter timeframes (see timeframe standards in paragraph 3 and definitions for abnormal and normal results in paragraph 9).
