Bill C-22 creates a front door, not a back door, to Canadian's data, and it gives the keys to the government and does so in secret. These are just some of the reasons I opposed Bill C-22 today, at least in it's current form. Watch below. My thanks to @privacylawyer, @mgeist, @robertdiab, the @CDNConstFound and others for their analysis and advocacy which greatly informed my remarks. I remain open to reviewing and considering proposals for lawful access.

Three years ago, the Liberals promised to review Canada’s membership in the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank after a Canadian whistleblower exposed how Beijing controls it. Canadian taxpayers are on the hook for about $1.36 billion. So has the review been finished? When we asked four Global Affairs Canada experts on multilateral institutions, not one of them knew the answer.

Projects funded by Global Affairs Canada: • Recycling culture and ocean plastic awareness in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam • Participatory theatre performance for Lebanese, Syrian, and Ethiopian women • Theatre-based youth resilience in Jordan • Healthy lifestyles and local fruit and vegetable consumption in Belize What foreign policy goals do these achieve?

Uncovered government housing documents confirm that housing hasn't kept pace with Liberal immigration levels. Housing starts will decline, while demand for homes continues to rise. Today, @MichelleRempel and I discussed what we uncovered.

(non)Response from Minister Anand: “closely following” “in communication” “we will…ensure Canada takes…steps.” The Liberal government’s response to this incident is nothing. This is why Canada remains a playground for hostile foreign agents.
I’ve written to the Liberal Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand regarding the disturbing incident reported outside the Chinese Consulate in Toronto recently where a peaceful protestor is harassed, threatened, and intimidated by a person who appears to be acting on behalf of Communist China. I asked the Minister to promptly investigate the incident and, if the individual involved is confirmed to be a Chinese diplomat or other foreign state actor, to remove them from Canada. I look forward to the Minister’s response.

Always a pleasure to help kick off the hockey season by dropping the puck for the Georgina Ice. Thank you to the players, coaches, volunteers, and organizers who give so much to make local hockey possible.

Spent some time touring the Simpson family potato farm out in Ballantrae this morning. 🌾 Tracing their roots on this land back to 1845, the Simpsons carry over 175 years and 8 generations of farming tradition. They are deeply rooted in Stouffville and showcase a sincere dedication to our agricultural community. Thanks to the Simpson family for the warm welcome! #Stouffville #Ballantrae #LocalFarmers #CommunityRoots #YorkDurham

The Liberals promised to double homebuilding to 500,000 homes per year. Have they abandoned their target?

Congratulations to North House on the grand opening of their Market Pantry in Uxbridge! This pantry provides our community access to food and household items for them and their family, with fresh produce, dairy, and everyday essentials. Thank you to Nathan Garner, Executive Director, and the entire North House team who made this barrier-free space possible. Proud to see our community come together so that options are available for residents in need of healthy produce in North Durham. #Uxbridge #NorthHouse #NorthDurham #CommunityFirst #YorkDurham

Pleased to visit the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419 in Port Perry and pick up my poppy pin ahead of Remembrance Day. 🍁 The Poppy Store is a special part of our community and a great way to support the important work of our Legion while honouring the Canadians who served and sacrificed for our country. If you haven’t picked up your poppy items yet, stop by the store in Port Perry before November 11th and show your support. Lest we forget. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #PoppyCampaign #PortPerry #RoyalCanadianLegion #YorkDurham

Dropped the puck alongside Mayor Barton at the Uxbridge Hospital Celebrity Ice Classic. Awesome to watch local players and NHL alumni take to the ice, and neighbours fill the arena, all in support of the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Thank you to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation, the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who fundraised and cheered. A special thank you to Jim Williamson for his tenacious advocacy for our hospital and for continuing to organize this marque event. He’s not bad on the ice too!

Exciting announcement! The Liberals are spending $7.8 million on a new affordable housing project. Bad news for Canadians, it's for affordable housing in the Dominican Republic. Why are Canadians taxpayer's funding affordable housing in the Dominican Republic while young Canadians struggle to afford homes in Canada?

Thrilled to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Underground Bake Shop in Beaverton! ☕️🥐 This coffee shop has become a gem for our community—a welcoming place for great coffee, delicious baked goods, and countless great conversations among locals and visitors alike. And of course, the LoveChild dessert is always a local favourite! Congratulations to the team on five wonderful years of serving Beaverton and helping make our community a little more connected. Here’s to many more!

Great to join Durham Regional Police Services for “Coffee with a Cop” for important conversations about community safety. ☕️👮‍♂️ For many people, meeting a cop is often the worst part of their day because it probably means they’ve received a ticket. That’s why these kinds of events are important. They give the community an opportunity to interact with the police in a positive way and learn more about safety in their own backyard. Thank you to the DRPS for making themselves available to the community through these events.

Proud to deliver Christmas shoeboxes to the Royal Canadian Legion as part of the Christmas Shoeboxes for Soldiers project. 🍁🎄 Supporting our Canadian Armed Forces is a responsibility we can all share, and small acts of generosity can go a long way in reminding our soldiers that Canadians back home are thinking of them this Christmas. If you’d like to take part and help bring some Christmas cheer to our troops, contact Wendy with the Ladies Auxiliary at [email protected] to arrange a drop-off. Let’s come together as a community to support the men and women who serve our country. #ChristmasShoeboxesForSoldiers #SupportOurTroops #CanadianArmedForces #RoyalCanadianLegion #PortPerry #YorkDurham

Parliament's budget watchdog confirmed today that the Liberal's rag-the-puck trade strategy with the US has real costs, reducing Canada's GDP by 1.4%, costing 185,000 Canadian jobs, reducing business investment, and raising inflation.
