I just think if someone tells you their pronouns you should refer to the person that way, even if they're not pronouns you're used to using for people.
I'm a strong supporter of public trans it.

One of my advisees just gave me a War of 1812 scented candle, and it is *hilarious.* This is the end of semester pick-me-up that we all need.

sometimes i just think about the guy who deliberately configures his ergodox to make it *harder* to type, absolutely transcendent energy

ALT What’s your keyboard setup like? Do you use a custom layout or custom keycaps? Yes, a custom layout that never reaches equilibrium. This is just another way of saying that I do not know or can not imagine what a perfect key map should look like. I confess that I work better when I am a little uncomfortable. I am not interested in a keyboard for efficiency gains. In fact, efficiency is a dirty word in my vocabulary. I like the idea of alternative shapes, geometries, metamorphosis, and hybrids. Nice thing about my EZ is that it reminds of me something Douglas Adams or Iain M. Banks might have dreamed up as a way of messing with our anthropomorphic hubris.

I think git should merge the patchset that's been up for like three years to add --first-parent to bisect so that this dumb debate can stop being a thing

Just got a wonderful note from Park Ranger Melissa, sharing how she relies on Comic Rocket to keep track of where she left off in hundreds of #webcomics while she's in the wilderness for six months of every year. news.comic-rocket.com/2021/1…

It’s all fun and games until Naomi Wu shows up at your office to get GPLv2 compliance😎
Full YouTube video coming soon😉
@umidigi
I relaunched Comic Rocket's blog, wrote up what I've been doing, and asked people for support via Patreon. I've gotten a flood of nice messages in response! 😊 news.comic-rocket.com/2021/1…

If you ever need to turn a device on and isolate it from WiFi connections but you don't know how to build a faraday cage, good news. Your microwave is a 2.4ghz faraday cage stick it in that (just maybe unplug the microwave so you don't accidentally turn it on)
I'm working on Comic Rocket again after I found that 200 people are regularly using the Android app even though I haven't touched it for years and they had to "allow untrusted sources" and install manually. Now I'm trying to get support for more work via patreon.com/comicrocket…
What webcomic do you think most deserves more readers? There are so many great ones that nobody seems to know about. I'm enjoying seeing which ones Comic Rocket's patrons are choosing: comic-rocket.com/explore/?or…

Normalize saying:
Hey, I'm sorry I haven't said hello in a minute, depression snuck up on me, and by the time I realized I was inside of a slump, I'd already been so quiet as to make it awkward to open with that, so instead, I sat around fretting and thinking of you often.
I've been having fun recently, making Z3 faster and learning about efficient ways to find equivalent Boolean formulas: jamey.thesharps.us/2021/09/0…

I'm still mostly ignoring Twitter but in case anyone wondered, here's a couple things I've been up to lately!
I got interviewed about paginating RSS feeds: hackerpublicradio.org/eps.ph…
