Joyce spent eight hours working on one ravishing sentence in Ulysses. 'The heaventree of stars hung with humid nightblue fruit.'

My favourite Jane Austen adaptation. Amanda Root played Anne Elliot so beautifully. Astonishing direction by the late Roger Michel

Oh, not Georgette Heyer. Please...
I love Jane Austen, but for pity's sake STOP ADAPTING HER. Her novels have been done to death. There are many other unfilmed authors to do instead. Burney, Edgeworth, much of Trollope. Non-Hannay Buchan. Most of Wilkie Collins. If you like Regency romance, Georgette Heyer.

What about the ITV version with the great Ciaran Hinds as Captain Wentworth.
Every Jane Austen novel has at least one great adaptation, except for her best novel, Persuasion, which also happens to have her best male lead, Captain Wentworth. The injustice of it all.

Sonnet 116. Patrick's favourite. Take one minute out of your day to hear the bard's words spoken by someone who lived by them.

One of my favourites too. The comic sparring with Kelsey Grammer.
The sadly now late but forever great PATRICK STEWART made one of the great guest appearances as the ‘debonair’ star conductor of the Seattle Opera Guild - Alistair Burke - in one of my favourite episodes of FRASIER (2003) RIP Sir Patrick (1940-2026)

This will always be the best version of Pride and Prejudice hands down. The 2005 version is ok, but this entire film is total eye candy. The atmosphere, aesthetic, and story line 😍🥲
society has progressed past the need for a new pride and prejudice adaptation since the 1995 one exists

That look says it all. Colin Firth’s Darcy may not say “bewitched body and soul,” but his eyes say everything. ❤️
