Avalanche danger rating on Post-it Mountain (aka my desk) has been raised to 5 - Extreme. Avoid high risk terrain and seek shelter.

“The gap between wage growth and labour demand was even greater among community services workers and early childhood educators. Governments have promised to create 250,000 new child-care spaces by March, 2026, but who will staff these programs?” ***internal screaming***
Here’s my contribution to the @globeandmail’s @globebusiness “Decoding 2023 in charts” looking at wages vs vacancies in the care economy. The disconnect is huge. This challenge will be a defining issue in 2023 in the face of skyrocketing demand for care. #cdnpoli #canfem

“Nurses saw a nominal wage increase of just eight per cent between 2019 and 2022, even as demand exploded, and inflation shot up by 12.1 per cent.” This during a period when they were being lauded as heroes, dealing with impossibly difficult working conditions. Disgraceful.

Is there a more high stakes, low reward habit than using ‘NP’ in text replies to mean ‘No problem’? At least once a month I accidentally respond to someone considerately telling me that they’re running a bit late to our meeting with ‘𝗡𝗢’

I’d love to read your XL tweets but unfortunately I’ve spent 12 years systematically destroying my attention span on this app.
Long form tweets of 4,000 characters will be launched in early February.

“Nobody knows what to do with this leftover week, awkwardly stuck to the bottom of the year. I call it “Dead Week,” a time when nothing counts, and when nothing is quite real.” -@helfitzgerald

Incredible that every year it feels so convincingly realistic that I’ll read all of the articles I’ve bookmarked in the last 12 months in the days between Christmas and NY.
