Canadian Olympic gold medalist and PWHL Walter Cup champion Claire Thompson has officially retired from hockey and has returned to medical school, she announced in an exclusive interview with The Athletic.
“A career in medicine has always been an overarching goal of mine and I feel that now is the best time in my life to step away from hockey."

Kreider got so mad at Roslovic there because no one is supposed to touch Canadiens goaltenders when he's on the ice.
Except him.
You may think Phillip Danault is past his prime but he just played an extended shift with the four worst defensive players in the Habs lineup against Toronto's top line and came away with no goal against.
The start of the game brought some (negative) flashbacks but the Habs settled in and look much, much better.
Oh so now Toronto can call a trade in before a deadline?
Time was ticking, but Don sealed the deal with only seconds to spare!
Go inside the GM's office for the moments before and after yesterday’s trade in this episode of Behind the Battle, presented by @PNCBank
There was a reason the Canadiens wanted both Marchenko and Knies.
The irony is the reason they didn’t get either one is because they didn’t have a Marchenko or Knies to trade.
On to the next target.

I remember Felipe Alou saying that Gary Carter wanted to play another game after his fairy tale ending double and he refused because the ending was perfect.
I look at Scherzer and wonder the same thing. He might want to and be able to pitch again but that last moment, perfect.
I am not saying that I necessarily believe the reports that the Habs are looking into Scheifele and that Kucherov is an option if he doesn't re-sign.
However, the Habs need villains. Villains help you win the Cup. The fact Habs fans hate them is kind of the point...
The All-Star Game location is a major announcement for every sports league that exists.
Even more-so for a league's first where there is CBA-mandated compensation for such an event that didn't exist for the league's first three seasons.

A lot of focus on the other Vlad video (for obvious reasons), but this one seems very important too.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: "I’ve been dealing with a back injury all year; it’s not a very serious injury—some days I wake up feeling fine, and other days I wake up in pain—but that’s no excuse for the bad season I’ve had. I’ve felt depression and anxiety. There are times when I’ve called my dad late at night to open up to him."

So great that these new streaming platforms are really doing everything they can to find and give a platform to new, young voices who haven't had the opportunities with the major networks.
Instead they take a guy literally out of retirement that didn't even last the off-season.
