the point: AI search isn't a product tweak. It rewrites discovery. Content became input. Traffic vanishes. Value flows to G unless pubs define terms. Google's illegal monopoly won't allow it. 5/5 digitalcontentnext.org/blog/…

Zero-click gets much worse with AI Overviews. With AIOs: 73% of searches ended without a click to an external site. Without AIOs: 54%... headed to Google Zero, @reckless. That OpenAI and Microsoft scandal under the klieg lights, Google is the same problem. 3/5

The click impact isn't subtle. Remove AI Overviews and outbound organic clicks from search jump 68% from 0.37 to 0.62 per search. So yes, AI Overviews are substituting for traffic to their scraped sources. 2/5

Google says its AI Overviews on searches create a better experience and “higher quality” clicks. We were sent research clearly showing otherwise. - AI Overviews didn’t improve satisfaction - and they didn’t improve visit quality - they just reduced clicks to their sources 1/5

Wow, you’ve outdone yourself, Daily News, courtesy of brutally candid Microsoft employee quote unsealed. Red box is mine.

woah. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

And to be clear, I read through MSFT's unsealed SJ, too. Nothing of substance unsealed outside of plaintiffs news witnesses saying GAI isn't the same as what journalists are capable of. Duh. They're using it as a lay term rather than the legal meaning. /11
