Freddie Freeman says he congratulates opposing hitters at first base “If you get a hit, I’m saying, ‘Nice hit.’ You know how hard it is to get a hit in the big leagues?” “I appreciate it. I tell every guy, ‘Nice swing,’ or, ‘Way to swing it.’” “I know my pitchers probably wouldn’t like that.” “We’re playing a game. It’s a kids’ game.” “Sometimes you just forget when you’re going through the grind of the season.” “My favorite is when it’s a big-league debut… And that guy gets his first hit. To be able to say, ‘Congratulations.’ You worked so hard your whole life to get there.” “Sooner rather than later, I’m going to be retired, too. I just like to have fun with all the guys. I know we’re competing against each other… But you guys know it’s a brotherhood.” “When you get to play this game for as long as we’ve got to… You’ve just got to enjoy the little moments.”
