What is the "philosophy is useless" people's endgame? Just to never have anyone do or learn philosophy ever again? Just producing consumer goods without thinking until the overheated Earth boils us alive? But I guess that's fine? Or not? Hard to say without thinking about it.

Was researching police statistics and came across this absolutely incredibly sentence in a Washington Post piece. What kind of brainworms do you need to discover the police are arrested at 0.04% the rate of the general population and think, "golly gee, they must not do crimes."

At this point, the police aren't fighting to restore order, they are fighting to prevent reform. They are fighting to keep the system where they are held unaccountable. That's why they are escalating. They think they can beat reformers into submission.
