Back inside one of my favorite New York City spots. Rangers vs Islanders is on the air NOW on @MSGNetworks with @KennyAlbert, @DaveMaloneyMSG & yours truly. ENJOY THE RETURN OF HOCKEY!! 🏒🥅

Hi 🥅🏒 fans! A li’l life update: I underwent prostate cryoablation surgery to hopefully destroy cancerous lesions. Will know in a year if it worked 🤞🏻🙏 Recovering now & will be SO ready for #NYR coverage on @MSGNetworks in 3 weeks! Thanks for the support & remember: GET TESTED!

Hard to believe it’s 25 years ago today that NASCAR lost its living legend on the final lap of its Super Bowl. This snapshot was taken two days earlier at Daytona when rivals Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon agreed to a rare joint interview. A poignant memory from my time at CNN/SI

Larry was a journalistic tour de force. The absolute best at what he did. Over many years we banged elbows in locker rooms, shared kudos for a story or interview, or recently just wished each other well. I always admired how much he bragged on his son & grandson. RIP to a legend.

Following @KennyAlbert lead…and footsteps…my vantage point tonight for #NYR vs PITT. Pregame on @MSGNetworks begins at 6:30 ET with @BillPidto @HLundqvist & @VallysView, then the call with @DaveMaloneyMSG as Mike Sullivan returns to Pittsburgh in opening night rematch. Enjoy!

Calm before the storm with a perfect view of Opening Night! On the radio call for #NYR vs PITT on @ESPNNewYork. And a special welcome to our new radio game analyst (and my long-ago men’s league teammate), @DStarmanHockey. Pregame show 7:30, Faceoff at 8 pm ET. Enjoy!🏒🥅

Stealing a page from @KennyAlbert book with the view from my “booth” between the benches. #NYR vs NYI preseason hockey on the air NOW on @MSGNetworks. Enjoy!

Dynamic in the net, dignified in a life VERY well lived. Ed Giacomin forged an indelible legacy as one of the all-time #NYR fan favorites. #1 will forever reside in the Garden rafters and among the pantheon of Ranger greats. A true New York treasure. And a wonderful man. 🥅🙏

A part of the #NYR fabric for more than 50 years…a precise and passionate voice for the sport…and a treasured colleague and friend. Can’t wait to share the air with Capt. Dave and Kenny in a few months. Drop the puck!

Hi all: in light of former President Biden’s cancer diagnosis, I wanted to provide an update on my 7-month prostate cancer journey, and again advocate for importance of testing & early detection. Click for my Substack word picture, 1000 words at a time. open.substack.com/pub/johngi…

This says it all, with amazing eloquence as always, from a New York wordsmith for the ages. Joe’s four-decade presence has been a present for hockey fans everywhere.

A broadcast partner, travel partner, Metro North partner, golf partner, poker partner…and total model citizen. From every game on the air to every day off the air, I’ll forever be indebted to Joe Micheletti for his fabulous friendship over two decades. Happy trails, Joe Mick⛳️🌴

ICYMI: Sam Rosen’s final words and thoughts on ⁦@MSGNetworks ⁩ following Thursday’s career finale. A cherished honor to share the space with Sam and his beaming, wonderful family, who were just off camera. What a story. What a life. What a gem. youtu.be/U-HcO_pqwMA

In a mostly forgettable season, this crew made it so memorable for me. It’s an honor to share the air with @VallysView @HLundqvist @BriBrows22 @DaveMaloneyMSG @BillPidto @michellegingras Joe & the GOAT, Sam. Thank you #NYR fans for the privilege of your time. See you in September

Hi all! On this 23rd anniversary of my first day at @MSGNetworks, I just wanted to share a few words…well, a thousand of them, plus a few pictures, on that first incredible night on SportsDesk, and so many amazing nights since then. You can find it here: Johngiannone1000.substack.co…

It has been the highest honor to work with Sam & Joe the last two decades…and share in Sam’s special day & extraordinary career. In a business of runaway egos, Sam ALWAYS leads with kindness and goodness. A Hall of Fame broadcaster, an even better person. In every way, a legend.

(2/2) For nearly three decades, Al was THE narrator of New York’s most fervent passions. His words were sublime; his voice distinct; his presence undeniable. His seat, and his shoes, are impossible to fill. His passing is impossibly sad. Rest easy, Al. Forever the gold standard.
