It saddens me how such an imaginative and creative show struggles to get a season 2, this is one of those shows that's gonna be cited as a main inspiration for movies and games 20 years from now, it's peak sci fi.
Preview of "Scavengers Reign" Season 2.
Unfortunately, this new season has not yet been greenlighted.
So the creators of the show & Green Street studio produced this concept trailer in-house.

Are Visual Language Models a game changer for OCR and the transcription of challenging texts ? @PandorAI1995 just published a lengthy report on @huggingface with one main catch: it's complicated.

What You See Is What You Search: Vision Language Models for PDF Retrieval
ColPali, a newly proposed retrieval model, presents a more efficient alternative using Vision Language Models (VLMs) to embed entire PDF pages, including text, figures, and charts. The resulting contextualized multi-vector representations of the PDF page improve retrieval quality while simplifying the extraction and indexing process.

Found the original John Ford photo in the LIFE archives, and I must ask: how exactly is this nightmare fuel an improvement over a slightly blurred image?

The PS5 Pro has lines across the middle of the console which are a nod to the lines Sony executives were doing when they priced the thing
So the toddler discovered his sister's awful strawberry scented shampoo and distributed it over every imaginable living room surface. 😭😭 The smell is absolutely nauseating 🤢
Hahahaha, Sony have COMPLETELY lost it, 799€ for a minor upgrade to a console that has launched at 399€? You have got to be kidding me. And without a disc drive to boot. And the vertical stand is a separate purchase, too. I was ready to pre-order immediately, but hell no.

Illustrator, director, and manga-ka Takafumi Ieiri, AKA Panyome, passed away a few days ago at 65. Among their many works was this tongue in cheek yet scathing criticism of 1980's otaku culture.

Sad to hear. "Seeing Like a State" really should be required reading for anyone making a living off creating abstractions. Eye-opening, and very readable.
Just spent an hour debugging a bug in my PNG decoder, to no avail. Used @AnthropicAI's Claude 3.5 Sonnet, described the problem with the corresponding code. It single-shotted the bugfix along with an explantion (had confused a single variable) 😍 I love living in the future.
