Very excited to be publishing this new @ecfr project by my colleague Beth Oppenheim tackling the ideological struggles shaping Israel’s future.
“Irrespective of the outcome of the October election, Israel will continue to push policies that clash with European interests”
Israel's illiberal and ethno-nationalist forces are reshaping the country in their image. This is a structural transformation that runs deeper than October's election and will outlast Netanyahu. ECFR's web special maps the battle of ideas for the country's future and what a new Israel could mean for Europe. @ECFRMena

🗞️"The Red Sea is one of the key areas where Emirati ambitions collide with regional rivals, including increasingly Saudi Arabia", writes @Cinzia_Bianco in her @ecfr policy brief on UAE's strategic shift after the Iran war. Read the policy brief here 👉️ buff.ly/GDCU22X
“The war is pushing Abu Dhabi towards “fortified connectivity”: keeping its role as a global hub while building spare capacity, alternative routes & sovereign defence production” - worth reading new @Cinzia_Bianco paper @ecfr on UAE after the Iran war ecfr.eu/publication/little-v…
The UAE built its power by turning itself into a hub that binds it to every great power at once. The war with Iran has tested this strategy and is forcing a rethink in Abu Dhabi, writes @Cinzia_Bianco. @ECFRMena

Amid deep ongoing challenges in Syria, marked now by new fuel protests, we make case for real importance of European role and support

Grateful to @IEMed_ and to write alongside @Rim_Turkmani, who coordinated the project, @ammarkahf @BenjaminFeve & Rabha Allam, whose pieces offer great insight on the possibilities of renewed Syrian-European ties

None of this is correct. It may be what the Israeli government wants. But it is not what the Roadmap says. Israel needs to first "fully complete, without delay" all remaining Phase 1 commitments, including cessation of hostilities (Point 2). No mention of destroying weapons.
