Venture bros is also a fascinating cultural object because it was written by two guys. For the most part tv is never just two people.
Venture Bros probably is my favorite show of all time but it’s so hard to recommend to people, like it’s kind of a dated Johnny Quest parody for a season or two and the best character gets replaced for awhile by a sympathetic pedophile lol but it’s fucking amazing

It’s just not Halloween without it, dude. If not my all-time favorite horror movie, it’s definitely one of the core four. I’m saving from the fire first. Just a lightning flash hit-and-run through Stoker, one of THE most incredibly edited and paced gallops through a runtime.
One of the most important horror films and one of my dear favorites. A vibrant, breakneck race through subversion and cruel twists that changed the language of cinematic vampires. Garish blood and lewd sexuality is all brilliantly performed and shot in a wire-tight 80 minutes.

Lugosi and James Whale and the expressionist cobwebs blown away in a shockwave of lavish violence, blaring music, and unsubtle indecencies and abominations. Easiest thing in the world to see why this had some clutching their pearls, others jeering for more. Roller coaster gothic.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Creepy (2016) is two or three Tales from the Crypt spun together with a twisty tie that, while an oppressively impressive eerie emerald, never shakes off the sense of his 2010s sentimentality dampening the wrathful bite of his best (and betters still to come).

Absolutely great tension and excellent characters (Hidetoshi Nishijima and Teruyuki Kagawa are an enmity made in Hell), but after an almost Kore-edaesque retread of Cure’s radiation that can’t even commit to killing the dog, I find myself happy that my guy learned to hate again.

“Some of the bits early on are undeniably transphobic but over time Hunter Gathers sort of becomes an avatar of gender frustration in an interesting and comparatively genuine way”
