โWe are bishops, but first and foremost we are disciples.โ
Pope Leo XIV reminded 147 new bishops from five continents that their first responsibility is to โremain with Jesus.โ He urged them to become shepherds who know their people personally: โLearn their names, listen to their stories, enter their homes whenever possible, and pray with them.โ The Pope also called them to care especially for their priests, reminding them that even a phone call, visit, blessing or word of encouragement can remain in someoneโs heart for a lifetime.
