Spent the last few days collating old WJEC articles & combined them with the 200word challenges. Trying to foster the idea of planning into our ks4 stds. Thanks to @Mathew_Lynch44 and any others who I’ve used ideas from. @Team_English1 dropbox.com/s/aj54gz05k2mz4i…

Behaviour in schools is the single biggest barrier to learning. A few years back @ianwhite21 produced an excellent thread on reframing positive behaviour with 20 ways to help manage behaviour in the classroom. I did 4 one pagers to highlight how good these methodologies are. They are available for download from my shared drive.

We’ve spent time unpicking Active Observation this half-term with our teaching staff.
👁 Both the staff presentation and an example of a ‘Plan for Error’ science document can be found below.
Thanks to @Doug_Lemov again for these specific techniques to use, adapt and refine.

***ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK***
A policy that focuses on purpose assessment and feedback that supports closing knowledge gaps 📖
Feedback not marking ✅
Live feedback through active observation ✅
Whole class feedback ✅
A focus on the qualitative not quantitative data ✅
Reduced workload ✅

This is an utterly brilliant response to just one paragraph in the Ofsted English report. Whose literature? Whose merit?

September will start with reflection and recap: there are still stems and structures to teach. Going forward we might make curriculum adaptions to create cues within planning so we don’t drift from using them. 9/10

Trying to get students to think more carefully about the words they use to describe characters in AIC. Should hopefully lead to a decent bit of debate #TeamEnglish

1. Finished teaching AIC with Y10-we are using themes from the play to springboard into Lang P2. While searching for inspiration today I used some of @DoWise resources and @SPryke2’s close reading tasks with @FunkyPedagogy’s approach to build up to a writing task for q5.
