She first ran for office when her local school was being threatened with being shut down, and support for public schools is at the center of her campaign, including opposition to school vouchers. So, yes, corporate Dems and NYT don't get that.
One of the best parts of @GinaHinojosaTX's campaign is how she is making an explicit break from Corporate Dems and culture-war liberalism - and doing so even in liberal spaces like the NY Times (and it was truly funny hearing the NYT being shocked/bewildered by her argument).

Most voucher users were never in public school.
These are subsidies for existing choices. And add new costs for states.
Lawmakers in other states should follow the lead of those in FL, GA, LA, MS, & SC who are reconsidering costly private #schoolvouchers as state budgets tighten. Lawmakers should reprioritize funding for public schools serving 90% of this nation's students.
