On this day in 16 years ago, someone offered to pay 10,000 BTC to anyone that would order two large pizzas to his Florida address.
The proposed transaction would involve:
1. Giving bitcoin to a stranger online and then trusting them to do something for you.
2. Giving a home address to a stranger online
3. The online stranger paying for pizza with the traditional financial system.
Four days later, someone took him up on it and people have been celebrating that day as some important crypto related holiday ever since.
Not the dawn of paying for goods and services in crypto. Possibly the dawn of mass delusion amongst crypto participants.
