Just flew home from another great trip to DC advocating for hemp regulations with the @HempRoundtable on behalf of @CornbreadHemp. Never felt better.

This man is indeed a sultan.
This man just took the same plastic recorder that used to sound like a dying goose in elementary school and casually started shredding Sultans of Swing on it. Eyes half-closed, fully committed, fingers flying like he actually practiced this instead of just surviving Hot Cross Buns. Somewhere a music teacher is watching this and having an existential crisis. The recorder has seen things. It will never be the same.

RIP Dale Brown. I saw him coach LSU at Rupp Arena once in 1991, with a promising center named @SHAQ.

Fun fact: Illinois medical cannabis patients who grow their own cannabis have no limit on how much homegrown cannabis they can possess at home*. *according to the state of Illinois thecolememo.com/2024/04/26/m…
I know a fellow home grower in Illinois that just harvested their crop. Here is a glimpse at their bounty

Home grown cannabis will face the same test in the near future.
The Supreme Court has agreed to weigh in on the constitutionality of an 1868 federal law that imposes a tax on distilled spirits but also bans home distilleries – that is, the at-home production of spirits like bourbon and whiskey. scotusblog.com/2026/10/supre…

Hi, I'm Dan Schwartz. I'm running for Congress against Maryland's only Republican congressman, Andy Harris. I get why our race caught fire this week, but the people of MD01 are not a viral clip. I sure don't call people asking me questions rude and I don't threaten journalists but the reason I'm running is to fight for Maryland families, protect health care, and take on corruption. I've been a consumer watchdog for 14 years holding financial institutions accountable and putting money back in families' pockets. Let me be direct: if we are able to get our message out in every corner of the district, we are going to win. It's that simple. People are fed up with skyrocketing gas prices and the affordability crisis, and they are crossing party lines. These are not normal times. But I can't do it alone. If you're seeing this, please share this post. I know times are hard. If you can chip in any amount, even one dollar, (link in the bio) to fuel our grassroots campaign. It will help us win and flip Maryland's only Republican seat blue and take back the House.

Canada's legalization is the ultimate rebuttal of almost all prohibitionist claims about cannabis.
8 years ago today, AU cannabis sales began in Canada. This anniversary is our annual reminder that the most straightforward rebuttal to the dire predictions of cannabis prohibitionists is simply: look at Canada. It is intellectually dishonest to continue making outlandish claims about the supposed dangers of legalization as if we don’t already have 8 years of real-world evidence from Canada. Legalization is not a political controversy in Canada anymore. Canadians barely think about it. Nobody cares. In October 2022, a week before Canada celebrated its 4th anniversary of AU sales, President Biden ordered a federal review of marijuana’s scheduling. 4 years later, Canada is now celebrating its 8th anniversary and the US rescheduling process still isn’t finished, in no small part because American political discourse continues to take seriously the deeply disingenuous arguments of prohibitionists who willingly disregard real-world evidence from places like Canada. I really hope we’re not having this same, tired conversation when Canada celebrates its 9th anniversary of AU sales next year. I’m getting too old for this.

This: "A ban does not clear the path to legalization. It hands the movement’s opponents a win they can point to for a decade." and this: "Prohibition was never the path to legalization. It is not the path now, either."

I very frequently publish well-written op-eds that I happen to disagree with the conclusions of, because Marijuana Moment is a forum for people in our movement to stay informed and hash out internal debates. That said, Aaron Smith in this new piece does a very good job of articulating many of my own thoughts and opinions about why it's wrong—ethically, politically, economically—for marijuana businesses to partner with prohibitionists on federally recriminalizing hemp THC products.

7 years after AU sales began in Canada, it seems hard to dispute that cannabis legalization 🇨🇦 has been a real success. Legal market -> 80%+ of sales. The illicit market has shrunk massively. Youth use is down. Cannabis contributes $16B to annual GDP. Supports 227,000 jobs.
