Man, @SimuLiu on #DragonsDen (calling out cultural appropriation) makes me love him more. Never drinking anything partnered with @manjitminhas . Calling Simu a downer for bringing up valid criticisms doesn’t sit right with me.

Just saw the viral clip of “bobba” pitching their idea. Huge shout out to @SimuLiu for calling this company out on cultural appropriation and trying to capitalize on a very distinct Asian drink that they’re claiming they’re making better. 😒 Will never be supporting that company
Twitter’s replies are garbage, full of irrelevant GIFs.
DMs are full of spam.
And now notifications are trash too.
Designing for a social platform is the hardest of them all. It takes decades to build a good community, and shortly to destroy it.

There’s a big difference b/w physical science and people science.
They operate by different rules (rational vs relational).
You can be a genius in one and useless in another.
Also why product management needs more people scientists rather than rational scientists.

Friends, I started a podcast, called Crazy Mighty Ladies.
Seeing women around me in tough spots & need courage to make changes.
This podcast is dedicated to them. I talk to women who made powerful personal transformations.
Ep 1: dealing w/ finding fiancé naked on wedding day.

Words of wisdom from an engineering leader I respect:
"Data is helpful when optimizing but stories drive the world. Build a narrative, build conviction in it, know that you can’t optimize your way to greatness."
How Musically got product-market fit:
- WeChat group for user feedback
- big button in the app to ask about top 3 likes + dislikes for product
- make fake accounts, comment to understand user motivations
TL;DR: do user research.
Still one of my favorite lessons on bootstrapping a new social network or community, from Alex Zhu (founder of Musically/TikTok)

Which product team made this terrible decision to remove prices on Facebook Marketplace? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
No, this will not boost my engagement time with Fb. Stop experimenting with dark UX patterns.
For y'all who are addicted to Tiktok like I was, here's a hack:
Delete Tiktok and use Youtube Shorts or Instagram Reels instead.
Guaranteed you won't be spending more than 15 mins on them.
You'll feel much more productive. :)

95 studies, 100k+ leaders: men are more confident, but women are more competent.
Are women biologically wired to be better? Doubtful.
Have they had to be better to overcome biases and break glass ceilings? Likely.
We're long overdue to stop mistaking attitude for aptitude.

We're too eager to bet on people who overestimate themselves—and too hesitant to invest in those who underestimate themselves.
It's easier to build up confidence than to tear down arrogance.
The people with the most potential are the ones who know they have a lot to learn.
Your girl just presented UX Research in front of thousands at the company global all-hands. No biggie. 💁🏻♀️
