Who restricted satellite internet for drones over Ukraine? 🛰️🇺🇦 Elon Musk says SpaceX was just enforcing civilian terms of service on Starlink. The WSJ blames Musk, Reuters points to the White House, and the State Dept has a totally different story. When the line between private companies and the state disappears, nobody answers.

Does local government automatically equal more freedom, or does it feel like tyranny when they disagree with you? 🏛️🤔 We break down this concept using history and modern examples in Episode 17 of Self-Evident: The Road to 1776.

“We live in an age that maketh truth pass for treason.” — Algernon Sidney, 1683 The truth was a book he never published. The crown used the manuscript in place of a missing second witness. Scribere est agere, the judge ruled. To write is to act.

All of us 80's kids are thinking Dukes of Hazzard meets Evel Knievel meets Knight Rider. I love it. Love it, love it!

A union made for war is different from a union made for peace. In ep 16b of "Self-Evident: The Road to 1776," we compare modern Middle East defense pacts to the 1754 Albany Congress. Why do unions built on conflict struggle to survive?

If you are in PA-01, Jamie Remmey is a fascinating candidate and worth taking a strong look at. We could actually see a write-in campaign make a real difference in this race.
The PA-01 race is an embarrassment for both parties and the communities they will serve. It's akin to a slap fight between two spineless men. The country is watching. Write-in Jamie Frost Remmey for Congress ✌️💛🦔

In 1637 John Lilburne refused to swear that he would answer whatever Star Chamber asked him. He was whipped through the streets of London for it. In 1966 the Supreme Court, writing Miranda, reached back to his case.

Several years back the broadcasters stopped showing or even talking about streakers at sporting events, because they did not want to give them any publicity for the act. However, somehow our SecDef thinks now (in 2026) we should start airing executions? Both immoral & dumb

I am against the death penalty period (on principle). I do not believe the State has authority to take a life. But Hegseth's plan to publicly kill the Fort Hood shooter should be beyond the pale for even the most supportive of the death penalty. Greenwald sums it up perfectly in this post.
Not only has the US never televised public executions in its history, but not even the Nazi defendants sentenced to death at the Nuremberg trials had their executions televised (it was deemed violative of the human rights that post-WW2 institutions were trying to re-establish). The most amazing part of this is that Nidal Hasan is paraplegic and close to 60. So this disgusting spectacle will involve rolling him out in a wheelchair, then live-streaming his body as it's pumped full of bullets. When I and others pointed out last night that public executions are carried out only by the countries we're told are the most primitive and savage (Afghanistan, North Korea), MAGA enthusisasts replied that we were too weak. Pummeling an old guy in a wheelchair with bullets -- as a reality TV show -- seems like an odd and dubious defintion of "strength," let alone an expression of the western values they endlessly claim they and they alone are trying to salvage.

Super interesting week on the show. All three of this week's episodes, the history, the contemporary application, and the interview are available on your favorite podcast app or directly from the website. If you are curious about the Enlightenment and the "other" revolution of the late 18th century, stop on by. I have to say the interview episode is my favorite this week, but I think both the history episode on Voltaire and Rousseau provides some interesting story-telling and in the contemporary we touch on an issue that should be near and dear to every parent's heart, the military draft and conscription.
