Durham trio Magic Tuber Stringband quietly released one of the most audacious albums of the year in May, inspired by fiddler Courtney Werner's research on radioactive birds. Wrote about Heavy Water (@thrilljockey) and their recent show at @ConstellationCh sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…
There were times during their set at @TheVicChicago where it felt like @theblackkeys were a true duo again. And @TheAnimerosBand, who opened, are another hit for @danauerbach's @easyeyesound label--stellar psychedelic cumbia. Words and photos! sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…
Words on and photos of @MissMargoPrice and @HFTRR at this year's @SquareRootsCHI, plus thoughts on their recent albums Days of Unrest (@LomaVistaRC) and Live Forever (@NonesuchRecords). Prine mural looking pretty good at @oldtownschool! sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…

When you listen to @HOgledd's DISCOMBOBULATED (@Dominorecordco), it seems like your schemas have been disrupted and your composure’s been disturbed. They really mean it with the title. Great record. sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…
"It belongs to the world now. I can let it go." Thanks to @anjimilemusic for speaking to me about 2 months of You're Free to Go (@4AD_Official) and his show this week at the @hideoutchicago! sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…

ICYMI @whitedenimmusic has been on an absolute heater over the past few years, and their new album 13 (@bellaunion) might be their best yet. Spoke with James Petralli about the symbolism on the record, different singing styles, and living a quieter life. sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…
Though he’s been involved in the production of most of his albums on Chicago blues label @alligator1971, Selwyn Birchwood had never fully self-produced a collection of songs until now. Spoke to him about Electric Funk Swampin' Blues sinceileftyoublog.tumblr.com…
