We lost Bob Ahrens a little more than two days ago. And man, what a life.
I’ve been fortunate to see him in so many different lights since 2013 — teacher at Fordham & WFUV first, then a mentor, and finally a friend. Professionally, I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. 🧵

Bob Ahrens changed my life and countless others @wfuvsports forever. We wouldn’t be close the people we are without him.
Countless late nights in his office & over the phone, Bob gave his entire self to the betterment of his students, who eventually became cherished friends. Giving *all* of yourself to others. How rare is that?!
Bob pushed you to be yourself, treat others with kindness/respect, and say it “like Sinatra would.”
In his broadcast/life lessons, he embodied that it’s how you make people feel.
And it’s why Bob can say, as his spirit and lessons live forever, “The Record shows I took the blows … And did it My Way.”
Rest in peace, Bob ❤️ Let me put it this way: YOU did everyone proud.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Bob Ahrens. Bob was the longtime WFUV Sports Executive Producer from 1997-2018. He passed away this morning peacefully in his sleep at the age of 89. [Thread]

It's been a bit of a week. Got news this morning that Bob Ahrens, who had shaped so many young media careers at @wfuvsports, passed after a long illness and an amazing life . While I had my back and forths with him over the years on various topics, he was an unceasing advocate for the young people on the Fordham staff, many of whom would not be where they are today without him.

Last offseason, Fordham's staff was pleasantly surprised with the readiness and potential of now sophomore Roor Akhuar, and he impressed big time last season.
One freshman to keep an eye on: @step_basketball grad Hassan Koureissi.

JUNE GETS!
Fordham lands a commitment from St. John’s transfer Kelvin Odih, the #67 prospect in the class of 2025 per On3.
Odih appeared in 10 games and averaged 1.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game as a freshman.
HIGH upside potential.
Fordham has landed St. John’s transfer Kelvin Odih, source told @TheFieldOf68.
Former Top 100 recruit played sparingly off the bench this past season for Rick Pitino, but should have a huge impact for Mike Magpayo - who enters his second season as head coach of the Rams.
