"Without my Admiral Nurse, Lucy, I don’t know how we would have navigated it all. She was always at the end of the phone, ready to help with practical advice or emotional support." For Jules, Lucy's support was a lifeline. Our Admiral Nurses are here for every family affected by dementia. Learn more here: dementiauk.org/information-a… Does Jules's story resonate with you? And it's not just dying scared and alone, it's pleading for the support of your son or daughter, and being denied. People should not have to plead for something so human and basic

Somewhere, there is a family carer quietly wondering if anyone else feels exhausted, resentful, lonely, overwhelmed, or changed by this journey. Conversations about caring challenges matter.

A culture of territorialism permeates health & social services, with deep ‘them and us’ battle lines drawn by staff. The cult is impenetrable. This is the greatest obstacle to a better NHS. Not funding. No amount of funding can fix it, only a change in culture.
I wish I could see a permanent change in the culture - away from territorialism 'this is my ward / care home and I decide who gets to stay' towards Carers Welcome and putting the patient residents wishes front and centre

Thank you Kate. I do feel like things are changing slowly & that is down to people like you who keep care supporter role in discussions! ❤️

So sorry to hear this Tracy. I very much hope your father is ok and thank you for sharing. Yes, it is exactly why the role of a #CareSupporter needs to be recognised in all healthy and care settings. #RightsForResidents

Sadly reminded just how important a care supporter is for vulnerable people! Dad had a bad fall at home yesterday, we were in A&E until 04:30 this morning with him. Full mental capacity but severe infection left him confused, he’s deaf & struggled to answer Drs questions!

England, Wales,Northern Ireland & Ireland are still waiting on their version of Anne’s Law.The devastating impact of residents being separated from families was highlighted in the UK Covid inquiry module 6 report which also recommends governments introduce equivalent regulation
This would give people in hospitals or care homes the right to nominate someone they lave and trust as thei Health and Care Partner. That person's access would be protected and their care and advocacy valued. It really matters but no one knows about it. Please RT

Fantastic open letter to #BaronessMerron. Such a late but powerful session on Wednesday, we hope all will get behind this amendment & support the changes. Never again must those in health and care settings be separated from the people who mean the most to them #RightsForResidents

When the confidence and potential happiness of millions of people depends on a handful of tired but dedicated peers late in the evening, we have to find other ways to get the message out. Please RT An Open Letter to Baroness Merron johnscampaign.org.uk/post/an… via @JohnCampaign

Care Partners💕 “We know that organisations such as the National Care Forum and Care England support an approach, that differentiates a person crucial to the service user, & chosen by them, from the generality of visitors, however important and welcome.” johnscampaign.org.uk/post/an…

Hi, it’s @SamSmithHiggins The last two weeks have been mentally brutal for our families. And I need to take some personal responsibility for the pain many are now feeling. As Co-Lead, I trusted @Plaid_Cymru ‘s assurances. I believed them, and I passed that trust on to our families. I’m sorry 😞 After six years of fighting for a Wales Covid Inquiry, you can imagine the devastation and sense of betrayal they now feel. A message to all politicians: please don’t use people like us in a political game. We are real people, carrying real grief. This is cruel, and it has to stop 🛑 Pic is our private FB group. @mabonapgwynfor @DafyddTrystan @PeredurPlaid @RhunapIorwerth @DelythJewellAM @Sioned_W @Heledd_Plaid @Adamprice @LlyrGruffydd @cefincampbell - you’re the ones we trusted 💔

Thank you to @LordPhilofBrum for your ongoing support. The amendments being introduced would ensure that those in health and care could have the person they want with them. #CareSupporter @JohnCampaign @CovidJusticeUK @PatientsAssoc #RightsForResidents
