Never forget Patrick Stewart delivering one of the most iconic Trek moments of all time. THERE ARE. FOUR. LIGHTS.

All at Huddersfield Town are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Sir Patrick Stewart. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time.
A titan of his craft and a legend and hero to millions worldwide, his legacy will live on. Fiercely proud of his Yorkshire roots, Sir Patrick was a Terrier in every sense, and we’re proud to have counted him as one of our own.
Once a Terrier, always a Terrier 💙

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
So sad to hear this.
The highlight of my career in journalism isn’t interviewing the Prime Minister, or trips to Downing Street. It will forever be interviewing this legend, once at Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield, the other @LeedsPlayhouse
My captain. RIP

Amazing: journalist does journalism to discover something, and because everyone is so used to people living by press release, they literally can't believe the journalist found it out on their own.

A blood-letting of unprecedented scale in the Stretford End in that second-half.
“Sell United and fuck off home.”
“You can stick your new stadium up your arse.”
Bonfire chant for Glazers + Jim Ratcliffe.
Jason Wilcox also a target.
Players booed.

What a grim opening line:
‘The new owners of the Daily Telegraph have made large numbers of staff redundant, telling them the title will be transformed from a newspaper “into a global, AI-powered premium media and intelligence business”.’

Calverley & Farsley by-election result: Conservative Amanda Carter gains for Conservatives ⤵️
westleedsdispatch.com/calver…
Calverley & Farsley by election result sees a Conservative gain from Labour, with Amanda Carter reclaiming the seat she lost in 2014. Report and reaction to follow
One of the things about covering elections are the breaks as you wait for results. The Civic Hall has a lot of rich history on display, so for your entertainment, here’s a photo of The Great Mace of Leeds, made in 1694 at a goldsmiths in Briggate apparently
I’m at Leeds Civic Hall to cover the Calverley & Farsley by-election for @WLDispatch. Low turnout apparently. Polls have closed and postal votes are now being counted, ahead of the main batch of ballot boxes arriving from the polling booths
I’ve always loved covering elections, whether local or national. Been a while since I covered a single ward by-election though, last one was 2010 Hyde Park/Woodhouse for Guardian, Labour gain from Lib Dem which tipped balance of power away from Lib Dem Tory coalition in city
