What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Fast-forward 2 years and... HOLY %$#&!! 🤯 Just six months ago, Meta AI was "animating" 4s of nightmare fuel. Sora 2 has blown my mind. 15s of video. Consistent drawing between cuts. Fully generated dialogue. But still struggles with paws. This is #AIgeneratedvideo by #Sora2

3½ years ago, a server would yield four cartoonish images (see QRT). Now, it is possible (w/ patience) to generate photorealistic images & video on a midrange GPU. Though, it massively sucks that datacenter demand has inflated prices of said GPUs. nitter.cf/johnwallaby/status/163…
