As the #C4Debate starts, let's remind ourselves why you can’t trust a word that Boris Johnson says. Last year he said that leadership debates were "essential". Tonight he is a no show.

I’m not his biggest fan, but Blair beat the Tories three times and achieved a significant amount of good - you guys are 3rd in the polls and serve no purpose except to give the wretched Tories their only plausible route to re-election. You aren’t fit to lace his boots.
Blair favoured deregulation of the banking industry - leading to one of the worst crashes in modern history. While spending on public services was higher, his legacy will ultimately be the austerity that followed his failure to stand up to big finance.

Last night @theresa_may suggested choice was between her deal & No Deal. Tonight she says it’s between her deal & a long delay. Last night she attacked MPs for failing to make their minds up. Tonight she says she understands that MPs are frustrated. I hope that’s clear.

The first-ever Friday prayer takes place at the new Cambridge Central Mosque today with Imam Sejad Mekic delivering a wonderful khutbah (sermon). Honoured to be a volunteer on this historic day and welcoming all visitors. It really is an incredible building. What an atmosphere!

Brilliant footage captures the precise moment a soggy and furious Farage realises it’s over for him 👋 #MarchToLeave

Now we know what the “deal” is, there should be #PeoplesVote with the choices of (a) the deal as negotiated or (b) remaining in. I’m afraid i just can’t for the life of me understand how (a) can be better than (b). What is more, I haven’t heard anyone suggest otherwise.
Triggering article 50 prematurely leaving us as a rule taker for an inevitably extended transition is the foundation of the problems with the deal. But no deal is catastrophic. The debate has to be can we do materially better than this deal? If we can’t we have to accept it.

William Hague on #r4today: “Did anyone really think we could leave the EU without having to make some compromises?” Yes, because this is the con Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage sold the country. Now the compromises have emerged, the public must be able to look again. #PeoplesVote

Bizarre. @realDonaldTrump says he came to Turnberry the day before Brexit and he told everyone that he thought Brexit would happen. And that he predicted correctly what would happen the next day. Umm. Not true. He came the day after Brexit. I was there. June 24

Unless you are very careful, the people who "take back control" are always the people whose ancestors have controlled everything for centuries.
