Thrilled to share that @PathwayMedical has been acquired by @doximity. Seven years ago, @LouisMullie, Chris, and I set out with a simple vision: use technology to make it easier for clinicians to care for patients. Today, Pathway is in the hands of hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, helping them answer millions of clinical questions. That mission is what first connected me with Jeff Tangney, Doximity’s co-founder and CEO. Jeff previously co-founded Epocrates, the first medical app for the iPhone, and helped define mobile clinical reference for a generation of providers. That same spirit drives Doximity today, now home to over 80% of U.S. physicians and deeply embedded in how healthcare professionals connect, stay informed, and deliver care. Bringing Pathway and Doximity together means accelerating our roadmap and putting the next generation of evidence-based clinical reference in the hands of millions, for free. I'm incredibly excited to build alongside the talented Doximity team to make that vision real. None of this would have been possible without a brilliant team who made the mission their own, and the mentors, friends, investors, and partners who believed in us. Grateful for the last chapter, and energized for what's ahead. We're just getting started.
Today marks an exciting new chapter for Pathway: we’re joining @doximity! Over the past 7 years, our physician-led team has built one of the largest structured datasets in medicine, purpose-built for AI. With it, we’ve delivered trusted, evidence-based clinical reference to hundreds of thousands of clinicians, including thousands of whom subscribe to our premium product. Now, with Doximity, one of the most trusted platforms in healthcare, we’ll bring that same AI-powered clinical reference experience to millions of clinicians for free, built directly into the tools they already love and use at the point of care. We ran 8,000+ physician dosing questions through 9 popular LLMs Over 2% of the dosing claims were wrong and almost half of those errors were serious or potentially lethal @Doximity Ask now checks every dose before you see it

my theory being a founder comes with pain, ambiguity and emotional roller coasters for ppl with trauma that's just default mode so they can withstand more of it and probably an unconscious drive to sublimate the pain to "fix" the original trauma
the moat is a founder with childhood trauma and a constant, debilitating fear of not achieving their potential.

Proud to announce Bedside Bench, @Doximity's new clinical AI benchmark, and see it featured alongside @Mercor and @Harvey as part of Fireworks AI’s Specialized Intelligence Index. Bedside Bench was developed by physicians to test performance on open-ended clinical tasks involving incomplete information, medication safety, evidence use, hallucination, missed actions, and treatment planning. It covers 500 questions across 10 dimensions of clinical care. huggingface.co/datasets/doxi… Excited to make Bedside Bench open and help raise the bar for clinical AI evaluation.

We think clinical AI should be boring in the good way. Not "trust us, it's magic." More like: "here's how it works, here's where it breaks, here's what we did about that."

Prescribing is something physicians do dozens of times a day. The act itself is simple. What happens after often isn’t. Coverage questions, pharmacy callbacks, transfer requests. Time that should go to patients gets pulled elsewhere. Today, @doximity is launching Prescribe in partnership with @photonhealth to make prescribing easier for physicians and patients. Physicians can write a prescription directly inside Doximity. Patients then get a text to choose their preferred pharmacy and see estimated pricing before pickup. That’s it. No new portals. No separate logins. It starts inside Dialer, works on any device, and is completely free for verified physicians, NPs, and PAs. It’s also the next piece of the workflow we’ve been building toward -- the visit, the note, the clinical question, and now the prescription, all in one place, built for the people delivering care. Distribution is the new moat
Starting to REALLY see how reaching potential customers is becoming a massive pain point for software startups - esp w AI! I get so much more messages about software that founders built rapidly that they think will solve some important problem (usually eg AI+context/trust/security). But how will anyone know about it? It was fast to build, but getting the world to know about it / care about it is increasingly hard/expensive/time-consuming. And the irony is: the "easier" it is to build, the more the only differentiation is marketing/advertising! (Because the easier it is to build, the more teams build something similar in parallel, and racing to win the market becomes key!)

DoxGPT is now Ask. New name, new agentic reasoning model, and a lot more coming soon. The goal is pretty simple: keep making @doximity the best place for physicians to use AI in clinical practice. The model matters, but a lot of the work is also in the details around it. Better sources. An integrated drug reference. Free access to hundreds of medical journals. Plus physician-reviewed outputs for thousands of common questions through PeerCheck. Ask is also part of what I think of as Doximity’s AI trifecta: - Ask for clinical questions - Scribe for documentation - Dialer for patient communication All inside Doximity. Free and HIPAA-compliant, as always. Proud of the team building this for our 3M+ members.

It’s great to see more people entering the race - but let’s be honest… ChatGPT for clinicians - Doesn’t provide HIPAA compliance out of the box - Doesn’t have an integrated AI scribe or telehealth platform - Doesn’t integrate an expert-reviewed drug information product - Doesn’t have a system for peer review of AI answers (PeerCheck) - Doesn’t have enterprise agreements in place with 100+ hospitals Meanwhile, the “model moat” is getting thinner than ever as post-training for specialized use cases shows strong results vs. frontier models. OpenAI is going to make the race even more competitive than it already is, but by no means is it leading out of the gates. Game on!
Two out of three doctors already use ChatGPT for clinical work, per the @AmericanMedAssn. @OpenAI just made it official with a free version built for clinicians. @openevidence, @GlassHealthHQ, @doximity spent years building specialized tools. OpenAI walked in and made theirs free. Good luck competing with that. The benchmark matters more to me. We need a way to compare these tools. But OpenAI built the test and is grading its own models. That's a drug company running its own trial. @MGHMedicine tested 21 of these models on real patient cases two weeks ago. They got the diagnosis wrong more than 80% of the time. Nobody paid for that study. That's what real testing looks like.

NEW: Doximity and Dr. Eric Topol launch PeerCheck, a physician-led effort to bring peer review into clinical AI. PeerCheck embeds expert review directly into DoxGPT, letting cited clinicians evaluate and improve AI answers for accuracy, evidence strength, and bias.
