Perhaps the greatest danger to church planting isn't a lack of money, but a dependence upon it. When outside funding becomes essential to a church's survival, we risk planting congregations that are financially sustained but never truly established...

Don’t assume that a church is small because the leaders and members don’t know what they are doing, or are not being faithful…

The older I get the more I want to be about encouraging other people. What a blessing it is to invest in the next generation of what God is doing…

I would love to see how Neo from the Matrix would handle getting his shopping thrown at him from the Lidl checkout folks…

I’ve spoken to four different friends today who are doing amazing Gospel work in Ireland and it fills my heart full of joy. God is so good, and these folks are a blessing to His church!

Pray for Irish churches!
Our desire is to see healthy, Gospel centred churches in Ireland. Each week we are praying for 3 churches from the Glúnta Map (map.glunta.com) Pray that they faithfully witness to the Gospel, make disciples, and reach their communities for the glory of Jesus!

I’m really struggling to get into Malcolm Guite’s ‘Galahad and the Grail.’ Should I be questioning whether I’m a Christian?!?!

I have just finished writing my sermon. I have a talk to write for next week, a retreat to plan, and a book to finish... but I have a large coffee and I'm being joyfully distracted by @Andrew_Roycroft's new book!

Still loving this article on Glúnta Resources from Colin Holmes. It’s great to have people ministering in an Irish context helping us think through the realities of Gospel work… [Link in comments]

This is a really helpful thread to help people understand pastoring in small churches or 'small' places. [Forgive the plug, but] I'm currently writing a book about this with @Christian_Focus
Pastoring a church in a village of a 1,000 is very different from pastoring a church in a city. Not necessarily harder. But different. And those differences bring challenges we rarely discuss. Here are 6 of them (and some solutions):

I've been thinking about C.S. Lewis, our addiction to noise, and why silence makes us so uncomfortable. [Link in Comments]

Editing my random thoughts on re-reading Lewis this summer, and it’s another sprawling disaster… Although I have found a line I really like… “We think in snippets, in memes, in "takes." Mostly ‘hot,’ rarely sensible.”
