@jonnysexton teaching us about the challenges and limitations of predicting #DILI in vitro and how patient-derived organoids can overcome many of these at the #IQDILI meeting. Tangential flow and MPS models increase physiologic relevance. Beautiful images and cutting edge science @livertox @RobertFontanaMD @TFFVIIa @rajVuppaLanchi
Super interesting - we just published a paper in Nature Cell Discovery with our colleagues at Henry Ford showing that SARS-CoV-2 can infect macrophages, but only if they are angry!
Inflammatory stress causes Ace2 to translocate to the cell surface. Wow.

We found that a series of drugs inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 cell-to-cell spread mechanism by single-cell high content screening & morphologic cell profiling - fewer infected cells and the viral protein builds up inside. This halts the infection!

Considering testing Niclosamide for Covid-19?
It will likely not work but some improved analogs might:

We are happy to announce our SARS-CoV-2 drug repurposing screen has just been published in PNAS! This was a massive team effort that would not be possible without many, including @ChristianeWobus @TheSpenceLab @ArulChinnaiyan @momeara
