Charlie often warned against “wearing the costume of the holy.”
Invoking God or quoting Scripture means little if our fruit doesn’t match. But how do we discern what is truly of God, and what is simply dressed up to look holy?
That question was at the heart of my message today at @LibertyU, a place special to both Charlie and me.
Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” Are we growing closer to Christ, becoming more truthful, humble, loving, and forgiving, or are we letting anger and noise pull us away from Him?
Charlie understood the importance of living his faith through his actions. He challenged people, listened to those who disagreed with him, and devoted his life to building something bigger than himself. That is the kind of fruit I hope my children see in me, and that others, whether they agree with me or not, might see as well.

Dr. C. Bradley Thompson's course: The Intellectual Origins of the American Revolution, is available now.
In this course, @CBradleyThomps1 traces America’s journey from imperial crisis to independence. We explore the bold ideas of thinkers including Franklin, Hamilton, Adams, Jefferson, and Paine, the conflicts over British taxation and representation, and fierce patriot–loyalist debates over natural rights, liberty, and the limits of government.
The course culminates in an examination of the Declaration of Independence and written constitutions, illuminating the Revolution’s enduring promise: a nation where liberty, equality, and individual rights shape the possibilities of human life.

I read Mircea Eliade's The Sacred and the Profane at least five times over the last two decades.
I thought it was a masterpiece the first time I read it.
But every time I reread it, I thought it was better.
That's why I decided to teach a course devoted to the book.
It launches today on Peterson Academy.
What's it about?
Attention.
What grips our attention, voluntarily and involuntarily, bears on our deepest desires.
That grip is possession by what is deepest within us.
What is deepest is by definition what is sacred.
Everything depends on what is sacred. That's what makes it sacred.
The atheist or the relativist might object: nothing is sacred to me.
But
If nothing is sacred to you, your life has no sustaining meaning.
There will come a time, if it hasn't already, where you will suffer for that lack.
And
If nothing is sacred to you, then nothing matters to you. That means that you are responsible to nothing and no one.
That means that people should avoid you by all means possible.
So what should be sacred?
That is the question....

'How in the world did we get here? How did something as personal as home or workplace temperature become an ecological sin requiring both state condemnation and centralised control?'
@jordanbpeterson questions how government intervention 'this invasive and totalising – leaving virtually nothing outside its purview – became not only the norm, but the declared moral ideal' ⤵️

'A veritable moral panic over air conditioning is raging – rather surreally – across the West as high summer temperatures produce the usual flood of exaggerated concerns.

If a white nationalist said Black people weren’t rational, couldn’t plan ahead, and couldn’t keep a schedule, we would call him racist before he finished the sentence.
In 2020, the Smithsonian published an infographic that put those very qualities under “White culture.”
I commented on it then. It’s making the rounds again, so I’m saying it again now.
How can we Black people let something like this go unchallenged when our children are the ones who will absorb its message?
The graphic lists objective and rational thinking, cause and effect, quantitative thinking, hard work, self-reliance, planning for the future, delayed gratification, strict schedules, respect for authority, and decision-making as features of “White culture.” It then says that people of color have internalized aspects of that culture.
Think about the implication. These virtues are supposedly foreign to us, and if we value them, we are “acting White.”
I reject that completely.
These are human virtues. People of every skin color need them and are capable of cultivating them if they want to thrive, raise strong families, build businesses, and create better societies.
To the countless Black people who, like me, have always prized hard work, planning, and delayed gratification, this graphic is an insult. It reinforces damaging stereotypes and pushes a victimhood mindset on our youth.
This is racist and ignorant, no matter who approved it.
I’m done with the Smithsonian for this.
Real progress would teach our children that these virtues belong to them too, and that becoming disciplined, thoughtful, and responsible does not make them any less Black.
Here's something truly funny in the darkest possible manner.
The "unflattering" traits listed as characteristic of white culture—even white supremacy culture—by institutions such as the Smithsonian share one fundamental psychological feature in common:
They are all indications of—are you ready for it—the Big Five trait conscientiousness.
Conscientiousness is the best known personality predictor of life success after general cognitive ability (otherwise known as intelligence).
So this means that the idiot leftists who developed and promoted such material proclaim their antiracism by insisting that the very trait most associated with productivity, reliability, diligence, and success is a flaw, unique to white people.
Hard work is key to success.
Work before play.
Delayed gratification.
Future orientation.
Planning.
Punctuality.
Self-reliance.
Respect for authority.
Pure conscientiousness.

You can't make this stuff up.
In truth, by the way, racial differences in the major personality traits are negligible.
