I feel for all the authors with pending titles and literary workers caught in the teeth of this situation… Even with the union advocacy securing some things, very nerve wracking just to watch.
It’s still unclear who is buying the independent publisher Catapult’s assets, which include 16 frontlist titles across its four imprints that are slated for spring 2027. buff.ly/QZ3bsqe
A haunted house, but it’s just room after room where a gal named Haley keeps saying the local creeper is such a super guy to be friends with.

Oof… first the magazine, now the press. I worked with an amazing editor back when. Koch tie consequences roosting, maybe. Still sad about it.😔
The independent publisher Catapult, cofounded in 2015 by Elizabeth Koch, will be acquired by an unspecified buyer and end operations on October 30. The newly formed staff union said it was notified that “continued employment with the prospective buyer is not an option.” buff.ly/f4EapkJ

Camera networks run by Flock, Axon, and others make it cheap and easy for investigators to link reporters to their sources or for authorities to harass journalists.
That’s why FPF is proud to endorse the Get the Flock Out of Our Communities Act.

Mamdani: There is no explanation for these tactics. There is no explanation for federal officers firing this many rounds into a car that has a five year old in the car. Look at how many people live right here. This is a residential neighborhood. We are right here by a subway.
And the pretext of ICE is, in their words, to keep this country safe. How is it keeping everyone safe to have, as you just heard from the police commissioner, individuals wearing construction vests in masks with long guns? Residents have no idea if these are law enforcement agents, or if they are simply attacking someone on the street. And when it comes to ICE, it begs the question, what's the difference? There is no explanation for this.
