It is well known that @VitalikButerin layered complexity over complexity
Until he built a Rudi Goldberg machine then he began lamenting about the degrees of freedom.
So many technically excellent decisions that simply failed the user test.
This is pretty wild.
In May 2025, Ethereum introduced EIP-7702 to make ordinary wallets “smarter” and more convenient.
About a year and a half later, attackers used that same feature to turn a Binance hot wallet into a drain.
With access to signed authorizations, they redirected the wallet to malicious code. One valid delegation was enough. Minutes later, billions in assets were swept away…
The feature worked exactly as designed. That’s the scary part.
Bitcoin’s conservatism exists for a reason - every “powerful” new feature introduces new ways things can go catastrophically wrong.
Convenience has a cost.
Bitcoin doesn’t need to become Ethereum. And it certainly doesn’t need to be replaced.
I am long the singularity.
Therefore I am short all forms of money. Including Bitcoin.
Bitcoin will become irrelevant
IMO you cannot be simultaneously bullish Bitcoin and long the singularity.
You need to choose one or the other.
Bitcoin was built for a world of currency debasement and counterparrty risk.
It is no longer relevant in a world of machines that produce infinite goods and services.
I’ve found that using @typesafeai Jev is the perfect safety classifier.
“Should I do this” yes/no
Simple as that
Crypto may never be functionally secure until smart contracts get a basic judgment filter.
Even the dumbest LLM would pause a $2B outflow from Binance to a random wallet.
The code just says "sounds good, send it."
The attack surface of software is too big and too complex to patch away.
In pursuit of freedom and automation and code as law, I think we have hit the limit.
The irony is that human-run systems are more secure, because someone slow and inefficient is still eyeballing the transaction.
"So this guy from Nigeria says I need to send him $50K by money order... let me check with my manager." That's your average bank teller.
Send someone $6B by accident and your bank stops it every time.
So what is it about human judgment? It isn't an engineering problem or a math problem. It's a judgment problem. All the math in the world can't beat the dumbest LLM at asking "does this make sense?"
Until smart contracts get a context filter, I don't think this gets solved.
Maybe we should all just disconnect from the internet for the next 6 months?
AWWWWOOOOOOOGAAAAAAA
9.8 severity use-after-free vulnerability in the kernel’s IPv4 TCP stack just landed
Time to patch!
ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026…
We thought it was funny when we discovered the single neuron to flip to convert the AI…..
Then we put all our neural links in our brains….
And the AI discovered the single neuron to…..
Yep. It’s coming
Oh wait
We’re just stochastic parrots?!
Chomsky was wrong.
Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims.
For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical.
We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak.
This new paper proves that is completely wrong.
Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time.
They found sequences. Linear chunks.
When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it.
We string linear chunks together.
If this sounds familiar, it should.
This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work.
For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do.
But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either.
We are just predicting the next chunk.
Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions.
We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain.
It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.
These jobs are never coming back 🤣
Literally adult daycare
What a blissful era. 2010-2020
Why is it that only humans can do this?
What part of our cognitive structure caused extreme proprioception ability?
Doesn’t seem related to language skills
Right.
So for the rest of us who can’t get in to the exclusive KYC-gated “project glasswing” or whatever it is called
We are left with OSS Chinese models who are the only ones who won’t refuse to help.
Vitalik is a sell out.
I am okay with Kimi 3.1 deliberately leaving out top-end offensive cyber capabilities from their training data.
Discriminating against use cases is MUCH less bad than discriminating against users. And the world does need all the time it can get to prepare, harden, check old code, (properly) formally verify new code, etc before the full weight of very powerful cyber attacks is upon us.
And if this first big wave of AI risk is not handled well, then we may well get a dystopia of highly locked down models, KYC gating on everything, highly intrusive surveillance on everything, a society where you may be a second or third or fourth-class citizen in terms of model access based on your credentials and nationality.
Elon raised 100bn is the $SPCX IPO
Then turned around and raised another 40b in debt
Then is doom-posting a bubble to rug pull ANT and OAI ipo 🤣
Master of the capital markets.
Replying to @chamath
Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
This is honestly retarded.
Give me a voice AI that talks back with 10ms latency at default 2x speed with sound emotional understanding but a neutral response.
What you will listen to below is cringe, slow and unnecessary
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

There will be no limit to the disbelief.

increasingly concerned that ai is revealing the mathematical world as negatively curved. instead of everyone wandering about in idea-space and clustering around the same famous conjectures (local positive curvature), ai is pushing out the boundaries rapidly and revealing that the space of mathematical ideas is ~hyperbolic (negative curvature). though this means there's lots left to discover, it also means that small separations between people/agents will lead to wandering alone.
we may be emerging into an idea-space where there's so much to see and do but everyone is alone in a private heaven, unable to share their subtle joys with others...
