Hyderabad is going to face a major water crisis in the coming summer. In fact the water situation right now itself is pretty bad, especially in the Cyberabad area. While deficit rainfall is one reason, there are many other factors that have made the situation worse. Problem has more to do with water management, even when the city gets a good rainfall, the water problem still persists. Hyderabad gets it's water primarily from Krishna, Godavari rivers and Himayat Sagar, Osman Sagar lakes around the city. Rapid urban expansion in the Cyberabad, ORR region has been one factor. All those multi storey apartments, gated communities, and glass chrome skyscrapers have led to immense strain on ground water resources. Already most of them are now depending on tankers. Depletion of lakes, wetlands has resulted in more strain. These water bodies played a crucial role in groundwater recharge during monsoons. With their presence shrinking, most of the rain water goes waste. Water shortages push residents to install borewells or depend on tankers, further straining groundwater, kinda vicious cycle. Hyderabad's water crisis is going to worsen even if there are a couple of good monsoons, unless action is taken on a war footing.

"Globalization is not just the export and import of capital and labor, it is also the import of new methods of conflict" - SNB. 'Dharma vs Religion' 'Reason/Science VS Faith' 'Spiritual but not Religious' 'Worship nature but not God' Are all such 'learnt conflicts' in India. They bring these arguments to also obstruct the efforts of integrating IKS into education. The enduring way to resolve (apart from State design and constitutional clarity) is to use IKS in school education to create right epistemic base - Pramanas, Tarka, Samskara Abhyasa, Rta Cit etc to seed Dharma Drishti. And then, let students be exposed to thoughts from all religions for them to discern for themselves the Dharmic quotient or lack thereof, in different religions. Political economy might incentivize rhetoric about Unity to avert around proselytization etc but the enduring change will be to give the knowledge tools for people to develop physical, cognitive, emotional, psychological, civilizational and spiritual intelligences by themsleves.

Perhaps a power in the Middle East that has deep influence in and over the West has leaned on the West to lean on Japan to open itself to demographic inversion.
Most surprising. Wonder if this is true. If so, it is coming after Bangladesh polity has become radical Islamist, when BD has drawn closer to Pakistan responsible for genocide in 1971, is drawing closer to China and is seeking to aggravate India’s security concerns. and is challenging India in various other ways. Japan has wanted workers from India’s northeast because of ethnic reasons so that their acceptance by Japanese society would be easier. How do Bangladeshis meet this objective.? Already issues have arisen in Japan about Muslims wanted burial facilities, tomorrow the demand will be for mosques etc. Wonder if a western power has pressed Japan on this.

The use of Brahminhood in this and many other contexts only has purchase because of its specific western construction based on a Christian reading. As I show in my book, out next week, this reading is pervasive but doesn’t tell us about anything India.
It's ubiquitous. Great grandkids of African slave kings lecturing us, Brahmin Queens hectoring us. These are not the problem. It's the befuddled white liberals doling out endless taxpayers guilty danegeld to ingrate race hustlers and their army of public sector enablers. Weak.

We had written to PM @narendramodi asking for removing the ban on worship at ancient Hindu temples under his government and also for allowing them to be restored from ruins. The @PMOIndia forwarded it to @ASIGoI who has closed the file with below remarks. #ReclaimTemples

In 2018, I visited Rohingya bastis in Jammu An intelligence (IB) officer told me he had recorded 1,548 Rohingya families living in the region by then I asked one Rohingya, 60-year-old Sayed Hussain, how he ended up in faraway Jammu after crossing the border in West Bengal. “I boarded the first train I saw [at Kolkata station]. It was noon. The journey ended at Jammu," he said Hussain said he was among the first Rohingya to have settled in Jammu’s Bhatindi area 10 years earlier Another Rohingya, 27-year-old Mohammed Tahir, also gave the same reason Later, the IB officer laughed at this explanation. Told me, “By all accounts, they boarded the Sealdah Express that crosses Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab before reaching Jammu. It’s an arduous two-day journey. Why did they not get down at any of the stations in between?” There is a syndicate active in Kolkata that has facilitated Rohingya migration to Jammu for years. They tell the Rohingya that the only Muslim-majority state in India is their "natural home" Ironically, most settle in Hindu-majority Jammu and not Muslim-majority Kashmir. The officer showed me figures on how Rohingya are scattered over 42 sites across Jammu, meaning they are being settled all over the region, and many Army camps were now surrounded by them In 2015, Abdur Rehman al Arkani, a Jihadi killed by security forces in south Kashmir, was from Rakhine from Myanmar. He went by pseudonym “Chota Burmi” Role of several Rohingya men in helping Pakistani Jihadis trespass Jammu border had surfaced by then. They are considered experts in infiltration as they are deft in cutting the fence, know tunneling, and are skilled in camouflage. Plus, they have a victimhood narrative of being wronged by qafirs - the Buddhists of Myanmar In Jammu's Bhatinda are I visited, it was a surprise how quickly they had flourished, as if being pampered and nurtured. An entire lane of shops was called "Burmi market". Most dry fruits factories were employing Rohingya women for cracking walnuts Local Hindus told me how these infiltrators had bigger and better stocked shops than them, who had lived here for generations The officer told me how using the UNHCR cards, which have no legal status or validity in India, Rohingya have obtained Aadhaar cards, ration cards and, in some cases, even permanent resident certificate (PRC) cards, all through fraudulent means Eight years later, these Rohingya are all still there in Jammu. Apparently the govt is running an anti-encroachment drive these days asking them to clear the areas they have illegally occupied, and some of them have reportedly begun to leave But the exercise is looking more like a temporary inconvenience for the infiltrators than a serious effort to clear Jammu and India of them.

In India, even a so-called "Dalit" cannot criticize Ambedkar anymore? Hamara Prasad was jailed for a month after writing a book questioning Ambedkar. Since when did historical figures become beyond criticism? Is dissent now a crime? Freedom of speech cannot depend on whose legacy you question. Respect to @HinduLegalFund for defending his legal rights.
As a Hindu Dalit, when I exercised my fundamental rights to write a book, false cases were filed against me, and I was jailed for a month. My sincere gratitude to @HinduLegalFund elders for stepping forward and supporting my bail despite being strangers to me.

BREAKING: Japan to urge all citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of food and water in preparation for major disasters and events, with an official emergency request set for November 2. "At least three days, and I'd like to say a week if possible… please prepare food, toilets, and water properly at home even without public assistance," Japan's Disaster Management says. It comes just 2 days after the Pentagon started to prepare every major US military base to operate for at least 90 days without outside electricity, fuel, water or supplies, anticipating a major war. The UK launched the "Be Ready" program 5 days ago, also advising all citizens to keep 3 days of key supplies, including bottled water, non-perishable food, and a battery or wind-up FM radio.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Japan's call for citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of supplies is longstanding official advice for natural disasters like earthquakes and is tied to the scheduled November 2 launch of its new National Disaster Management Agency. japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/09/2… maff.go.jp/j/zyukyu/foods… ibtimes.co.uk/japan-househol…

In this country, you can criticize Nehru, you can criticize Gandhi, you can criticize Savarkar, you can even criticize Ram & Krishna. But you just cannot criticize Dr. Ambedkar. Ironyis that Varaprasad himself is a dalit, but still he was jailed for criticizing Ambedkar. Q is why do we have such different standards for "freedom of speech"?

Also don’t read India’s resoluteness on Russia oil imports as defiance. If U.S. had more captive oil fields and the aggression on Iran had unfolded as hoped, India would have severed this lifeline too. The India-US relationship is a precious plant that must be watered even at the expense of India.

Hyderabad is set to experience it's biggest water crisis this year. A stark reminder of the primacy of nature and wisdom of restraint to all the 'move fast and break things' folks. The city of lakes convertrd water into real estate glut. Policy must factor contextual limits.
