A lesser known gem that Patrick Stewart starred in was Jeffrey. One of the first gay-themed films I watched as a teen. Stewart, a straight man, played the role of a gay man in NYC with a profound fear of acquiring AIDS so perfectly.

キューバ革命の英雄を叔母に持つ男が、ハバナの路上で眠り、血と涙にまみれた顔を描いてきた。 1971年にハバナで生まれたボリス・サンタマリアは、革命家一族の出身だった。叔母のアイデー・サンタマリアは、カストロらによるモンカダ兵営襲撃に加わった女性として知られ、のちに文化機関「アメリカ館」の館長を務め、自ら命を絶った。名前の「ボリス」も、革命の殉教者にちなんで付けられた。 しかし、革命に身を捧げた両親は彼を安定して育てることができず、10代で家を出る。パンクやロックの世界に身を置き、やがてホームレスとなり、アルコールと薬物に溺れた。2006年にHIVと診断され、そのころから絵を描き始める。 描くのは、悪意や攻撃性、皮肉を帯びた男女と子どもの顔。苦痛と血と涙が刻まれ、キューバと世界の政治・社会の対立が重なる。 ローザンヌのアール・ブリュット・コレクションの学芸員は、彼がキューバの政治に批判的でも、「反体制派」とは呼べないと語る。完全なアウトサイダーで、彼の言葉を聞く人は誰もいないからだ、と。
