Taking my child to school in the dark isn’t an issue.
Having to adjust my child’s sleep schedule twice a year is.
No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter. Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.
I miss the days of social media where you could just start an account called something like "Things my angry neighbor shouts at his cats" and get a 7-figure sitcom deal out of it.
The Venn diagram of people who use gen-AI to write LinkedIn posts and the people who think Ayn Rand was a good writer is a circle.
It's been five years since I last worked as a university social media manager.
And as it's highly unlikely I ever will again, here are some hard truths I wrote for @volthighered about higher ed marketing that I can finally get off my chest...

Millennial parenting struggle:
Showing your child a beloved film from your childhood only to realize that you’ve only seen the “edited for television” version of it and that it’s actually extremely inappropriate for younger viewers…😬
Of all the small businesses that shouldn’t use AI generated flyers (and there are MANY) a tattoo parlor is probably on the top of that list…
What tangible benefit has AI given society so far?
We've all heard that it could eventually cure cancer, but what actual progress has it made towards that?
Because so far, all I see it has given us is slop, scams, lost jobs, and made it extremely easier to spread disinformation.

Personally, I'm convinced that none of the accounts are run by actual people and are all bots...but at this point, who can say? Who even knows what is real anymore?
